Hearing Damage - Closed cans vs Speakers vs Open backed cans

If you are that worried about hearing damage with headphones, use SPL meter. Stick it in between the ear pads and squeeze them together. SPL meter with long neck would be best so you can get nice "seal" with the ear pads. 85db is the limit where you start to get hearing damage when exposed to it...

what gives...have I been missing bass all my life?

I agree, some reviews are spot on with the sound. From my experience, people who have listened to a lot of headphones or higher end audio in general. Often give the most accurate reviews. I think it has to do with what you pointed out, they have heard what neutral bass is.  But i am not saying...

what gives...have I been missing bass all my life?

From my experience reading tons of reviews and listening to headphones, bass quantity is often difficult subject. Most often there are quite different views on the matter. Also i have noticed the words neutral / balanced does not mean the same thing for everybody. To me Neutral means that no...

They are the same headphone, only difference i think is the housing material. Definitely get the aluminum ones if they are the same price.

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

To answer your question, no winamp can't change the bit rate. Unless you re-encode the file, but that's something you should not do to already compressed files. I don't actually know any places where you can buy songs online. I usually buy used CD's for cheap anyway's so. I find it odd that...

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

You have not noticed any of the crackle sound with any other songs? May i ask how loud do you listen to music? That particular Metallica album is so badly recorded and mastered that it makes you weep... The Snare drum sounds horrible. Also i think i hear some form of popping and crackling in...

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

I am not expert myself with these things. Sorry i can't give you a easy solution for your problem. To me it sounds some sort of driver / audio decoding issue. Software related anyway. Anyway i hope you find a fix for your issue.

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

If you don't have analog volume pot then you use the system volume. IF you have a analog volume pot then you set the System volume to 100% and use line Out and control volume with the analog. I control system volume with my keyboard ( has volume control ) its digital and it adjusts the system...

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

Its a good thing they are reworking winamp since winamp has issues with latency and heavy memory loads. It sometimes introduces odd sound during playback when your computer is under heavy load. That is the reason i started using Foobar2000, i often listen music when i play games and winamp had...

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

Well if the sound card is dead silent without any noise played then it most likely is not a problem with anything related to hardware. At least your sound card is not taking any EMI noise what could explain the pops and crackle sounds. I have encountered problems before with sound cards and...

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

Couple of things came to mind. Try using different PCI-e Slot for the card or just plug it in and out to make sure its seated properly. Also you could try taking it out and turn the computer on and go to windows then turn it off and plug the sound card back in and start.   Btw are you hearing...

Looking for Over ear headphones for music, gaming and movies primarily for home use.

The Stock Akg K240 ear pads are uncomfortable indeed for larger ears because they are so shallow. The DT770 ear pads are around the same size but deeper and softer and made from velour. Did you like the sound of the Akg K240 or did you listen to them?   I actually use the Shure SRH840 ear...

Help me- Pops-crackles, what usually causes them, what I can do to fix it?

I did not quite understand what have you plugged with RCA cable? Also do you use the Front panel jack or the back panel jack? Press the HF button option in your Control center and listen if you still have the pop / crackle sound?   I am not sure if it can be your computer since any noise...

Looking for headphones for FPS gaming that don't require an amp and have a detachable cable.

You should put all your requirements in your OP, its hard to recommend anything since we don't even know why you rejected those headphones.

    headphone recommendation

In term of sound quality i think the KRK KNS 8400 is close or even slightly better compared to the Shure SRH840. But the sound signature is quite different SRH840 sound warm and maybe slightly dark. KNS 8400 however sound bright in comparison, in my opinion has better soundstage, comfort is...

[Sale Buy] Recommendations ~100€ ($£) - List - No listening possible

Amazon.UK does not properly pay taxes so even if you order there, you most likely would have to pay Taxes ( if the product comes from outside EU ). Just a heads up so you wont get a nasty letter in your mail saying you have to pay taxes and custom fees.   For electrical music and i think most...

24bit vs 16bit, the myth exploded!

Actually i think the noise he is hearing is Tinnitus (ringing of the ears) after listening at 120db. Most likely your extreme audiophile friend is deaf by now. Even 85db can cause damage to your hearing if exposed to it for a long time and every +3db up from that halfs the time you can be...

[Sale Buy] Recommendations ~100€ ($£) - List - No listening possible

Do note that you most likely will have to pay Taxes and customs fees if you buy from overseas. Not sure about the Law's in your country. If you live in a country that is part of EU you can order items from another EU country without paying the Tax or any custom fees.   I think those...

[Sale Buy] Recommendations ~100€ ($£) - List - No listening possible

Well compared to the headphones you have listed there the KRK are bass light in comparison. I have not heard the other headphones unfortunately so i cant say anything for certain. The bass on the KRK KNS 8400 goes deep but its slightly on the light side. You hear it but you don't really feel it...

    50% Gaming, 50% Music Headphones ~100$

I am not sure how Lithuanian law's work but its more than likely you have to pay tax if you order from outside of EU. The price from US tend to be the same after Tax and customs fees. Also Amazon does not pay tax properly. So even if you order from Amazon.UK you have to pay taxes. Not sure...

Looking for headset/headphones for FPS gaming

There is also a Kingston HyperX Cloud headset, they should be the same headphone as the Takstar and the Qpad ones. Check if you can find them.   How about ordering overseas? Are there some taxes of customs fees to worry about?   I can say that most 5$ mic's work perfectly fine with skype /...

Yet another thread asking for "perfect phones"

Silly me, i haven't even noticed that the Akg K545 does have detachable cable    I have to say that i find it odd that some say the M50x is slightly different to the M50's since people who work for Audio Technica have say'd that there is nothing different with them except the detachable cord...

Looking for headset/headphones for FPS gaming

I would like to point out that there are not that many good headsets in the market. Usually the price is too high compared to the over all sound quality and build quality.   Out of the headphones you mentioned i think the Superlux HD668B and the Creative Aurvana Live are most likely the best...

Yet another thread asking for "perfect phones"

Actually what i can tell from the reviews the M50x is considered better than the old M50 and i was talking more about the old M50 model. The treble is not so bothersome on the M50x according to the reviews and the mid's are not so recessed.
