Rank the Headphones that You Own.

I own the TH600... not sure I'm the one who should be questioned about not hearing a headphone, it appears you haven't heard the DX1000 and desire to comment like an expert. Something you've done in the past If I recall.     The impact of the DX1000, TH600 are not huge. The Signature DJ...

HIFIMAN HE560,new legend! almost the best headphone in the world!

Even though its a ok to think its the best for you, this review comes across as pure fanboyism without balance or almost as if it he was paid to overhype it. The HE560 is no doubt an amazing can but this review lacks the ability to really quantify its qualities and how it truly stacks up with...

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

Hahaha, the DX1000 bass is not close to being the most intense of any phone, the JVC SZ2000 would be the one you are thinking of. The DX1000 has well extended bass, but it is not even more in quantity than the TH600, while also having rather emphasized midrange. The treble isn't too rolled...

Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone!

Sadly I didn't - it wasn't a compulsory subject here in Australian high school curriculum (year 7-12). Enlighten us on why the PM-1 needs to be nearly twice the cost for Europeans and the british? I can understand the Australian pricing based on GST, Import Duty, Import Taxes, shipping etc.  ...

Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone!

Here in Australia, there is a brick and mortar store in Melbourne that sells them in person as far as I'm aware. Their facebook page has them with the stock - ready to demo, I assume. I've not been there, but my brother has and they have hundreds of headphones out to display. Their price is...

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

V200/V800 Combo was what used. It sounded acceptable to my ears even out of a "lowly" Audio GD 15.32.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Dr. says "No more Headphones".... : (

I'm 27, and overall in good health apart from one thing - mild tinnitus. My tinnitus did not come from headphones, but came from performing in a heavy metal band on guitar, back in my high school and young adulthood up till the age of 20 years old. I also went to a lot of heavier concerts and...

    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

Fair enough. I don't have a HD700 but I've heard it for an hour - entry Audio GD amps are not too bad with the HD700 Wolfsons for them - warmer amps to be sure.   I have my X3 working as a dac/amp fine, but I find it to lack soundstage somewhat and I guess what you might consider dynamics. Not...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I didn't notice any major burn in or anything on mine... you can get ear splitting volume out of it. I tend to stay around 40 volume out of 60. Battery... I'm only getting 4-5 hours out of it on high gain, not sure if this is irregular at all.

You can use the Fiio X3 as a plugged in USB dac and amp. http://www.fiio.com.cn/news/index.aspx?ID=100000110684794   From there you can use Foobar on your computer, and also watch movies through things like VLC with its dac/amp active. Hope this information helps.

    Grado SR225i vs. Beyer DT?

The DT880 with an amp would be a good idea, as they benefit from it. Something cheaper like a Vali/Modi would be a good idea as a pair.

    Grado SR225i vs. Beyer DT?

The SR225 is a headphone that has a small soundstage. I personally would not really recommend it for someone looking for a large soundstage or someone who listens to Classical and EDM. You looking in the right place at the DT880 as a treble head and someone into their soundstages, as these are...

Sennheiser HD 800 VS Grado PS 1000

Feel exhausted after one album... I wouldn't consider that a good thing (especially for your hearing) - even for metal. Especially as my weekend sessions go for 3-4 hours.

Careful now... can't go making statements like that without hearing something like a Sony R10, Leatherhead, Alpha Dog, JVC DX1000 or TH900   Just having a laff with ya..   Out of those two the HD600 hands down sounds better, to match it overall in a closed can your looking at $6/700+

    = HiFiMAN HE-560 Impressions & Discussion Thread =

It won't be any fun without ear pain, I was hoping to get mine customized with metal pins and spikes     Really commendable to see Hifiman acting so fast on an issue like this - really looking after their customers. Though, it makes me want to hold out for a few months for any potential...

Sennheiser HD650's sounding too 'thin' and 'clinical', any recommendations for warmer headphones?

What made you think of the W5000? They are some of the most bass shy headphones imaginable... The D7000, JVC DX700 or Shure 1540 might be more up your alley. Funny though as the hd650 are a darker and warmer sounding headphone.

    Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones

I'm one of those who always bring up the treble spike - for me even at low volumes it can bother me a bit. Mind you its a matter of perspective and what one is used to. For me I prefer a fuller bodied, mid oriented sound when going for Rock, Jazz, Metal. I prefer headphones like the HD800 / T1...

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

I've found a solution, I ripped a piece of foam cushioning off a piece of a mold for inside a box and have tied it on with a couple of busted rubber bands. Not winning any beauty contest, but it alleviates the problem spot, which I've found to be where the top of the headband has the two small...

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

The only trouble I'm having with my newly gained LCD2 is that the headband is giving me a fair bit of pain on the top of my head, and I have long and thick hair. $300 budget - HE400 vs Grado 325is?

In this price bracket I'm more of a Mad Dog fan if you are going for both rock and electronic music. Also the Philips X1 could be considered. I'd be mainly looking for a mid oriented, stronger bass headphone for the two - as opposed to a V or U shape. I'll let others who currently own mid fi...

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

If you haven't heard it, try the album Atra Mors by Evoken on the LCD2. Its a great Funeral Doom album. Lord Mantis - Perverter and also Solitude Aeternus - Adagio don't go astray with them for Doom and Sludge.
