    Asus Xonar DX Mods!

Ok, done a little research and fiddled a bit with the datasheets. Opamps are being fed 16 Volts, located a few caps (I think) but could not get a measure on the 220uf Caps. Anyways, they're not in the signalchain are they? I've been looking like a maniac through the datasheets for the CS4398 and...

    Asus Xonar DX Mods!

Thank you, I've been reading a bit but since most articles aim at people with understanding I don't have I've been running into some trouble. Almost everything I know is self learned, and hence there are some gaps. But you answered my question perfectly. The answer you gave was just what I...

    Asus Xonar DX Mods!

Hi! Since I'm a beginner at electronics, even if I know some things and can solder pretty decently, I got some questions. What exactly is the purpose of the coupling and decoupling caps in this design and what kind of capacitor is prefered in this application? I can understand if you don't...

Was thinking about replacing it with a high quality capacitor like Black Gate or the like. But I might just Bypass it and check offset then.

How do you like the sound of the 8620 compared to the old opamp? Picture of my mod:

Changed the opamp in 10 mins, it was a no-brainer. The way I did it with the cheap opamp on the card is a bit more crude.. I just cut the legs off and removed them from the pads with the soldertip. Then I just put the new LM4562 SO-8 in it's place and soldered it there. Sounds.. different...

    Asus Xonar DX Mods!

Thank you for figuring it out of me, I don't own an multimeter anymore so it was a hassle to borrow one. Was planning on doing what you did but never came to it. Thank you! I have an LM4562 waiting to be put on the board, i also have some AD-amps i might try, and of course an 2134 as well...

I've been trying to check which opamp was used for the front channels. How did you manage to find out which op that was used? Thanks alot, also, which opamp replacement did you use?

    Old PIMETA issues

Thank you for your insight, I don't have a meter anymore (It died). But I can see if I can borrow a meter from a friend in a few days. Yet again, thank you for pointing me in the right direction! EDIT: I switched the groundbuffer with the right channels buffer with no result.

    Old PIMETA issues

Hello Head-Fi community! I have an 'old' Pimeta that's not built by me that once upon a time worked just fine but suddenly decided not to play nice anymore. When max out the volume at the source and turn the knob all the way to max, the sound I get out of the Pimeta is Very low, totaly...

I got an 'old' Weller WECP-20. It's doing it's job pretty well for not having costed me a single cent.

    Issue with PIMETA amp

I got hold of 2 pieces of 8610 from a friend. But as i have serious trouble getting hold of more of thoose in sweden, i should be able to use another opamp for the ground? Which opamp should i try to aquire to fill that position?

    Post pics of your builds....

Here is my PIMETA in it's temporary casing and with temporary wiring, i think it turned out decently. It's going to stay this way til my new casing/cabling arrives. I used AD843 opamps for it.

    Issue with PIMETA amp

Argh.. can't buy any of them from elfa. I'll see if i can order any of them from the US or UK. Anyhow, this is how it turned out: (Yeah, i know it needs to be rewired, better cables are on their way)

    Issue with PIMETA amp

The problem was a thin piece of metal that stuck under the opamp and was causing a short curcuit it seems. Nothing damaged.. Now that it works and it was such a simple error (my bad! duh) Got any suggestions on opamps i may try to replace my 843s with, they sound fine but i want to try a few...

    Issue with PIMETA amp

Seems i'm having bad luck with this PIMETA. It worked fine and sounded pretty good for some while now. But i decided to take it out of the box for replacement of 4 capacitors, but when it was out i decided to listen some before the change and it gives weak sound on one channel and the other...

    Issue with PIMETA amp

I've had it running for a while now afterbi solved the problem (it was a defective DIP8 socket it seems). And it runs pretty hot, the opamps that is, i can touch it but if it gets hotter it'll be pretty hot to the touch. So it seems to runs Hot rather than warm. Would cooling be an alternative...

    Issue with PIMETA amp

There is no reduction or change in the noise if i touch the potentiometers casing or metallic knob. The noiselevel seems to be static as well, it does not increase when the volume is increased.

    Issue with PIMETA amp

I checked all the solderings and i can see no shortcurcuits. Another i noticed now is that the opamps are getting Hot. They should not be warm to the touch. So something is indeed wrong. I cannot check the DC offset etc right now as my multimeter is not in the apartement atm, i gotta wait...
