Silent Cinema does not impress me at all (I have a Yamaha receiver), almost no 3D positioning as far as I can tell.- Grandagony

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)
Saw the Monster DNA Pro's setup at Best Buy the other day. They had four of them setup on display. All four of them were broken at the exact same spot on the headband. Now I know people are rough as crap on demos in a store but still.. worth a mention I feel.- Grandagony

7.1 Surround through headphones, questions on the basics
Yes, there are sound cards that do the same thing. The Creative Sound Blaster Z, Zx, and ZxR all have whats called SBX Pro Studio, The ASUS line of cards use Dolby Headphone. Alternatively you could use Razor Surround which is software base and seems to work pretty well with just about any pair...- Grandagony

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
After owning my X1's for a few now I can honestly say these are the best headphones I've ever owned. I love them. I can tell a slight difference between the stock cable the and 8' monoprice cable I purchased, but I'm leaning more and more to the stock cable all the time, it feels "warmer" to me...- Grandagony

Hysteria is a great song but it sadly sounds like crap no matter what you're listening to it on. Live it's a completely different song.- Grandagony

Yamaha receiver vs. Sound Blaster Z for Philips X1's
In the end do you think this Sound Blaster Z is worth keeping vs. just using my receiver via HDMI? With these X1's I'm actually finding my self leaving SBX Pro Studio off in games and music more and more. Running optical from the Z to the receiver seems like a waste vs. HDMI, though it is...- Grandagony

Imagine Dragons - Night Visions. Amazing album all the way through. Pretty much anything Muse, save the newest album. Wasn't terribly impressed with that one.- Grandagony

Yamaha receiver vs. Sound Blaster Z for Philips X1's
Is the difference between plugging into my SBZ and a lower impedance source (4-Ohms or less) noticeable?- Grandagony

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I ordered the mediabridge 8' cable with at the same time. The Philips cable looks great, but I can tell the difference between the two sound wise. The only downside to the mediabridge is it does have some microphonics, not a big deal if you're not moving.- Grandagony

Yamaha receiver vs. Sound Blaster Z for Philips X1's
I'm going to post this in "Computer Audio" as it seems like the correct spot for it, I apologize if I'm mistaken. I currently have my PC hooked up via HDMI to a Yamaha RX-V373 5.1 receiver from my 2nd ATi HD6950 (crossfire setup) video card. I switch to the HDMI when I want to use my...- Grandagony

The Best Soundcard for Gaming, Surround and Movies?
I also have the SB Z. I wouldn't think the Z would have any issues at all driving the X1's with its internal DAC/AMP. Am I mistaken?- Grandagony

Can anyone compare these to the Samson SR850's? I love the sound of the 850's but can't make them comfy for anything. Thinking about grabbing a pair of the X1's.- Grandagony

Samson SR850 repalcements. Gaming and music.
Been reading some reviews on the Philips X1's - Are they worth the $250? How does the sound quality compare the the Samson Sr850's, i.e., will I be "blown away?" They look super comfy. Not to mention seksy.- Grandagony

Samson SR850 repalcements. Gaming and music.
No matter what I do I just can't make these SR850's fit well enough to use for more then an hour or so at a time, which is a shame cause they sound awesome. I need recommendations for a replacement set of head/ear phones used mostly for gaming and music. They do not have to be portable as...- Grandagony

Any earphones/IEM's good for gaming with a wide sound stage.
I'm looking for an in-ear (would consider on-ear) that has a nice open sound stage and accurate positioning, close to an open back set of cans. Is there anything out there that fits the bill while not requiring a small loan? I have the Samson SR850's and love the way they sound if that...- Grandagony

Need help choosing a USB DAC + preamp + headphone amp for under $300.
Don't know if this will help but the new Sound Blaster Z has a switch in the software to quickly go from speakers to headphones and back. Never have to unplug the headphones. Also has a nice DAC/amp built in. The Zx comes with a remote puck deal and the ZxR is the top of the line model with a...- Grandagony

Headphones for home use under 70$
Samson SR850. I'm having a hard time finding a better set of headphones for the money. Sam Ash sells 'em if you have one local. My only gripe are the ear pads. They now come with a velour pad, which could stand to be thicker and less scratchy. Problem was solved by some $10 K240 leather(ish)...- Grandagony

Samson SR850 comfort issues.
I picked up a pair of Samson SR850's the other day from Sam Ash. Mine came with velour pads instead the pleather pads I had read about in the reviews. The SQ is nice, and they are great for gaming but man do they hurt after a while... Are there any mods I can do to these to drastically change...- Grandagony
