Shanling M0 Pro - Ultra-Portable Hi-Fi Player, Now With Balanced Output!
Can anyone comment on the resume play consistency and ease of fast forward/rewind. I am curious how well the M0 Pro might work for audiobooks / podcasts? Are fast foward and rewind achieved using the touch screen or volume knob?- nv88

[FiiO M5] Compact and Versatile Hi-Res Music Player
Is anyone currently using the M5 for audiobooks or podcasts? 1) I am curious how adequately the resume (position) feature would work for audiobooks/podcasts? 2) How easy is it to rewind 10-15 seconds in a long track?- nv88

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Well I've ordered a Hiby R5 too. I'll be moving from a Sony A105. I do have a question or three... 1. Does the R5 still come with a preinstalled screen protector? Could someone suggest a preferred replacement? 2. I found a pretty good deal on a Samsung 256gb SDcard. What is the...- nv88

The Beyerdynamic Byron Series (IFA 2016)
I got a pair of wired Byron's about a week ago. I'm satisfied with them. They seem to be controlled and polite. I bought these to replace my old Brainwavz M2. For music the wired Byrons are better. For audiobooks I prefer the M2. The M2 has a richness in the midrange that is missing from...- nv88

The Beyerdynamic Byron Series (IFA 2016)
I'm considering the Byron Wired to replace a venerable pair of Brainwavz M2 that has lost a filter. The M2 has served me well but it may be time to look for a successor. These will be carried in a small pouch in my pocket, all day every day. I'm looking for something durable, compact, worn...- nv88

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote
Quote: Interesting. Mine did not work. When the plug is inserted completely into the player there is no sound from the coaxial connection. If you pull the cable slightly out it does play... until the cable falls out of the jack. I'm sending mine back. (To be clear I ordered the Micca...- nv88

Thanks ngs428 for the link. I have to wonder what the user experience is like on the AP100 if the UI of the X3 2nd gen is that much better.- nv88

Iriver H120 replacement Digital Out, and Audiobooks
I'm looking for a new player to replace the iRiver H120 I connect digitally to a DAC. I want something that has bookmarking so I can listen to audiobooks on the go. I'm currently using the iRiver at home and work connected to desktop DACs for music. For portable use I'm carrying a Samsung...- nv88

KEF new headphones!
Ditto for everything blueangel said. I would say HD25 has a good bit more isolation. M500 isolation is average for me too.- nv88

KEF new headphones!
I guess so. I've been using Denon D1001 at work for awhile. They are (barely) around-ear for me and very comfortable. As much as I like the Denon I'm not happy with the slightly boomy bass, even modded. I'm enjoying the KEF.- nv88

KEF new headphones!
Quote: I am really enjoying my M500. However, I will agree that the source can make a big difference with these headphones. I'm not a big fan of the cables. I would like a slightly longer cable with only one right angle plug. The earcups tend to flop when you fold them up. If you are...- nv88

KEF M500/M200 Impressions Thread
Thanks. The 3.5 right angle is not as easy to unplug from desktop amps as I think straight would be. I also feel like i've got a piece of fettuccine draped over me. :-) Since I'm carrying the headphones to work and back each day I think I'm plugging and unplugging the cable a lot to put...- nv88

MP3 for audio books w/blue tooth
The bookmarking feature on the clip is based on the files for each audiobook being in a separate folder, not all your different books lumped into one folder. It sounds like my procedure is very similar to yours. I download the mp3(s) from the library split into smaller files, fix tags with...- nv88

MP3 for audio books w/blue tooth
Yes, you would need an Android device; phone, tablet... to run the app. There are several good music player apps and other audiobook specific apps for Android too. A couple of popular music player apps are PowerAmp (probably the most popular) and Neutron (many say sounds best). There are free...- nv88

There is also an excellent audiobook app for Android named Listen Audiobook. Just copy a folder with mp3 files for each audiobook to a folder on your device. looking for portable closed headphones
My understanding is the HD25-SP is not in the same class as the HD-25-1, HD25-1 II or recent Amperior. I think when most folks here talk about HD25, they mean the HD25-1 or now the HD25-1 II. I don't have anything against the SP. Several years back when I bought my HD25-1 I was told here to...- nv88
