Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
I believe it's of utmost importance to clear prispewnic's name here. I've always held him in the highest regard both technically and integrally, and if he believes that there was an issue with a specific feature (as he found numerous times when testing my buggy work :)) he would flag it properly...- jkbuha

Seeing as I’ve been quoted, best to reply on this topic directly to ensure that there’s no misunderstanding :) I don’t have any issues with WindowsX’s ROM (in fact I use it as a base layer with my kernel as it’s leaner than the original firmware). Prispewnic is a capable scripting dev and he’s...- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
Sorry for the delayed updates here. For some reason I’m not getting notifications on any new posts to this topic (and I’m the topic starter, go figure...). Thanks for the find on 2. Truly a good find. On 1. Tidal sadly has an unorthodox way of load-balancing MQA playback, which conflicts with...- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
Never used OnkyoHF before, but keen to understand how it works with my kernel. If you could check how it runs on the original ROM, then compare it with 1416/1704 speeds on my kernel I'd appreciate it.- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
The first time this happened I got really worried, then I popped it in the freezer and it resurrected as soon as it cooled down. Have cooked it intentionally for at least half a dozen times since then and it always pops back on cue :) But I can fully appreciate if you'd prefer to go back to...- jkbuha

FEARLESS Audio IEM's Discussion/Impressions
I have the M11Pro, which is essentially an M11 but with more/faster RAM and an AK4497 DAC instead of an AK4493. Slightly more expensive than the M11 but the DAC performance is warmer and better imo. I see you're also based in Malta, which is where I'm originally from. You can get aliexpress to...- jkbuha

FEARLESS Audio IEM's Discussion/Impressions
Hey guys - got gifted a pair of Rolands as a present and paired with an X5iii/M11Pro they really bring out a whole dimension of colour. Have swapped my trusty HD555 and 1More out for these as default IEMs of choice for my DAPs. Quick question - has anyone bothered to make a DDC/IRS for them to...- jkbuha

Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
Hmmm, this is an interesting one. 1) Is this happening only on the one app, or across any app usage? 2) Does this happen also on freshly installed firmware (with/without custom kernel) 3) As it's also happening when the cable isn't plugged - there might be an intermittent short on the...- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
The issue happens on both streaming and downloaded MQA. But only on 3.4x. In fact if you flash kernel 3.32 or fresh install 3.4x on vanilla the issue goes away. We had marked this bug down as low priority as we have not received any feedback so far (only 2 on this forum and 1 on 4pda) but it...- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
Unfortunately that’s a known bug that’s crept into 3.4x that prispewnic and I are aware of and will be fixed on the next build. The trigger conditions are not fully known yet but 3.32 works fine with tidal MQ. Also coming straight from vanilla to 3.41 sometimes fixes the issue so it could be...- jkbuha

I've optimised the runtime NEON compilation as much as possible to get the best performance out of Neutron and UAPP, but now we're running at the limit of what the AK4490 is capable of. Turns out whilst it can (maybe) handle DSD128, there isn't a pinout to support DSD256, so FiiO is right in...- jkbuha

Just wanted to thank you here @prispewnic especially in this forum for all the great work we did together this year. Ok, this one post is worth a response. First off, it's important for everyone to know here that you've actually done a great job with v4a. When I had bought my first X5iii almost 2 years ago, I hadn't managed to install it and spent quite a few weeks trying to get it work. That you have...- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
Not even going to comment on that. I guess you'll have to run independent benchmarks such as geekbench or antutu and then compare them online with others to see if 1704, 2016 or even higher exist. That's why independent benchmarks exist in this world. Don't feel bad about having a 1416 player...- jkbuha

Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more
On some devices period. RK3188 chips are clocked to run at 1800Mhz. They are downclocked because they don't have good passive components. As I explained to you on PM there are (at least) 3 different die qualities for this chipset in the FiiO. Hence why a decent batch of devices can run easily at...- jkbuha

Fear not - though it sounds like you have a data corruption issue. You'll have to wipe the player and re-install FiiO firmware (1.2.3 recommended) before installing the kernel again. Choose 1416 to be safe, then when everything's working normally bump it up to 1704 (no more).- jkbuha

Initially I thought so too, but we ran a lot of experiments here and on 4PDA and the tests do indeed show 192/384kHz max rates. No mate. You're using Google Translate the wrong way, unfortunately. You need the handwriting version of translate, then (attempt to) scribble the cyrillic letters into google. If you're lucky you'll come up with a mathematical formula (example one thousand plus four hundred plus twenty-three)...- jkbuha

You'll need to translate your way around, but in principle there's a detailed guide on which version and how to do it. Try registering first (good luck) and hunting around. Separately how are your other travails progressing on getting v4a to work using the standard method?- jkbuha
