    AUDEZE LCD XC

Does anyone have some more impressions of the XC with RSA Dark Star? I'm mostly curious if the dark star will tame the slightly peaky highs of the xc.

Which standalone DACs in the $500 +/- range fit my needs?

You can try for a Yulong D200. Has balanced out, integrated amp is a bonus. The sound of the dac is I would say slightly warm. Overall it's pretty good.Has a ESS9016 chip in it and plays up to 32bit 384khz. Lemme know if you're interested! I have one looking to sell.

    The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread

Has anyone paired the GS-X MK2 with a XC? I've been finding the XC's a little bit lacking in the upper mids. It doesn't sound very smooth transitioning from the mids to the highs and was curious if this up would lift the upper mids a bit.

    YULONG D200 Impression : ES9016 Balanced DAC + Class A Single End Headphone Amp + Balanced Pre-amp

Mine does as well.. I noticed it right when I first used it. Pretty disappointing considering I paid around 700 including taxes, exchange rate and what not. It's not that bad but I would expect better assembly from a premium product.

    YULONG D200 Impression : ES9016 Balanced DAC + Class A Single End Headphone Amp + Balanced Pre-amp

I'm not sure.. Maybe you just haven't found a sound signature you like? I guess I'll just repeat what I said before. If you have the ability to buy the DA8 you might as well.

    YULONG D200 Impression : ES9016 Balanced DAC + Class A Single End Headphone Amp + Balanced Pre-amp

IMO I really think you should experience the D200 first before moving on to the higher end DA8. Learn to appreciate the qualities of audio then move up to the next step. If you start with a DA8 you'll just be taking a huge leap and not learn to enjoy what is improving. It's like if someone that...

    YULONG D200 Impression : ES9016 Balanced DAC + Class A Single End Headphone Amp + Balanced Pre-amp

If you don't have much money then go for the D200. I don't think you'll need to upgrade anytime soon. As long as you can avoid the upgradetitis bug... What I meant by midfi hifi is that when I started this bank breaking hobby I purchased some cheap entry level cans and since then I've moved...

    YULONG D200 Impression : ES9016 Balanced DAC + Class A Single End Headphone Amp + Balanced Pre-amp

IMO if you have the funds to buy DA8 you might as well. I ordered a D200 since I can't afford the DA8 and I want to experience mid fi before moving on to hifi.

@project86 are you planning to make a review of the d200? I've looked around on head-fi and I've only seen two threads with some impressions

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

I'm not worried about not being able to turn it up enough. I'm more worried that I don't have much control since there's so much power going to the phones.

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

Matt I remember you having a lyr power the MD. Did you have any problems with the lyr giving too much power? Since it's 4.0 w for 50 ohms I'm not really gonna have much room to turn the volume pot. There aren't gain switches on the lyr either.

Did you order the doggie treats separate? The reason I ask is my MDP came with 2 dots on each channel and a disk on the left.

I haven't had too much time with these, but these are so damn comfy. Clamp isn't too much and the alpha pads are just ridiculously comfy!    Thanks Dan!

Oh maybe I misinterpreted what mechgamer123 asked.. I took from your reply that only the Balanced/Universal Mad Dogs could be upgraded to Mad Dog Pro's, but unbalanced/regular SE Mad Dogs can't be upgraded to Pro.

**MrSpeakers Mad Dog: Impressions and Discussion Thread**

Just to be clear, you can't upgrade a regular MD to MD Pro but you can buy a MD Pro that terminates single ended, but you just have to buy a cable on top of that.
