Why would 24 bit / 192 khz flac sound any better than 16 bit / 44.1 khz flac if both are lossless (if at all)?

To answer the question of the TS:   Because higher numbers, either bits or kHz or $$ mean better sound, IT HAS TO!!   Better listen to great MUSIC then to a great system. Choice of great music is strictly personal.

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Could you tell which type or model Unitek HUB and which USB charger worked for you? I use a newer version Ipad Mini with Retina display and Lightning CCK.

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Regarding track order in 8player:   You can change sorting mode in the toolbar - there you can select "Track N" option. You can open toolbar by pressing yellow arrow button in the left bottom corner of the screen. There is no point if the player tells you what is being output. Better...

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

I don't use DSD files. I am quit happy playing upto 24/96 files in iPeng or upto 24/192 in 8player.   I don't use playlists. Both in iPeng and 8player all Albums are listed separately with the tracks they contain.   I don't care whether the music I like is in FLAC, ALAC, WAV or DSD, DFF, DSF...

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Been thinking about a Windows 8.1 alternative, but these are just TOO EXPENSIVE. Both come close to 2000 Euros here in Holland. That gets me a lot of music.   For now I am quite happy with my iPad mini plus iDSD nano. Streaming music of my server or wireless 1TB Seagate disk.

    Android phones and USB DACs

We all know know by now that UAPP unleashes DAC support and hires playback over USB on many Android devices with support for many DACs, incl Cambridge DACMagic XS, Audioquest Firefly, iFI iDSD Nano and many more. But I cant call it a real music playing solution for me if it can only play 1 song...

Why would 24 bit / 192 khz flac sound any better than 16 bit / 44.1 khz flac if both are lossless (if at all)?

That happened/happens a lot. Many producers don't know or don't care that when recording at levels of 0dB or over it on digital equipment results in distortion (clipping). Analog equipment is more forgiving.

    Android phones and USB DACs

Ditching my Android phone completely as it comes to streaming music to an external DAC. Simply causes too much frustration. Luckily you can use it as a phone........

    Android phones and USB DACs

I don't feel like buying memorycards for phones and copying over my music. I rather stream it of my network. But UAPP has no streaming ability, eventhough it is the only app that can make my DAC sing upto 24/192. I can select a file in ES file manager and have UAPP play it, but this is rather...

    Fiio E18

I pity anyone who tells me there is a difference in how a 4 inch cable "sounds". In the end this is gonna cost lots of money.   But... If its in you mind.   I spoke once with a HiFi aficionado who told me that his 10.000 Euros a piece speakers sounded great. I only replied with a few words...

So sad all this trouble. Why is every brand different. And even every Android version. There really should be a basic Android with basic functionality, including audio over USB. And not capped at 44 or 48kHz. So the phone doesn't have to do the task of resampling.   If the phone hard and...

Which closed headphone to replace the HE-400?

I was planning to get me a HE-400 headphone but found out that it leaks quit a lot because it is open. I also found out that it is out of stock and probably won't come back. It was on sale just a couple of weeks for 299.   The shop still has the demo I auditioned though. Been out of the box...

Production of HE-400 stopped? Is there gonna be a successor?

The HE-400i is a bit more expensive if it goes from 399 to 459. And yes, from what I read its a different design. If it is actually better remains to be heard. I just ordered on of the last HE-400 here in Holland. When they clear out the shop won't get new ones.

Indeed they did. At least in Dutch shops.

Production of HE-400 stopped? Is there gonna be a successor?

No I haven't tried any low impedance headphones or IEMs. I can't use IEMs any longer than 15 mins. I get aching ears. So far I only used Beyerdynamics DTX501p and Sennheiser HD 25 Aluminium. Both on-ears. The Beyerdynamics sound pretty good, considering the price, just 65 Euros. The HD25s sound...

Production of HE-400 stopped? Is there gonna be a successor?

The HE-400 remains a nice headphone off course even if it is out of production.   I saw a price mentioned of 459 dollars for the HE-400i which probably will be 459 Euros here Holland.

Production of HE-400 stopped? Is there gonna be a successor?

I am trying to buy a HE-400, and they are on sale now here in Holland from 399 for 299.   Unfortunately it seems the shops are out of stock now and don't know if they receive new stock.   Is it true that the production of this headphone is stopped or will be stopped?   Will it be replaced...

Help! I want some new headphones.

I would like some new headphones for use on an Ipad, eventually with an ifi iDSD nano DAC/Amp. So the headphones should be comfortably driven by this equipment. I like to stay close to 150-160 Euros, 200-220 $$. I can't stand earbuds and like over-ears the most. But on-ears are OK too. At the...

With the iDSD nano you don't need a powered hub and still can play all formats.
