You can connect it to a phone and use it as an external DAC. I'd rather replace my phone when it is outdated than a $4000 DAP.

This product doesn't make sense. It can't pass direct audio from most streaming apps, and in 5 years when it isn't getting updates anymore you won't even be able to install most third party apps. $4000 for a device running Android is stupid. I'd rather have the old version.

My phone resamples everything to 48. My question is how does bluetooth output affect this, or does it go through the same stack?

Clearly that isn't the case. If you select native, then 24/96 files are down sampled to 48 BEFORE being passed to the OS. What happens after that is anyone's guess, I don't know if it then resamples to 96khz for ldac before bluetooth output? If you select variable it will send unaltered 96khz...

I'm using USB audio player pro. What should I set the sampling rate to, device native, fixed 44.1 or variable? I'm using ldac. I don't understand how android processes audio when sending over bluetooth. My device native sample rate is 48

Did you find out regarding if when OGG is selected Hify passes the audio unmodified? LPCM didn't work for me but wav and ogg both work. However if I use WAV my dac can't upscale because it thinks it is already hires.

How did you get Hify to recognize UAPP? It doesn't show for me.
