    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

Are you sure it's not the recording? I've listened to high file size but badly mastered 24-bit recordings, so the bit-rate doesn't tell all of the story. Go search around the net for excellently mastered albums. Not all recordings are made equal. Go listen to binaural recordings if you want...

Ohhhh, that's good to hear.   All those used but cheap AK100s being sold in our local forums seems more appealing now!

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

After I got my Mojo awhile ago, I told the shop owner that I'm eyeing an AK100 to strap onto the Mojo but he discouraged me due to the slugginess.   He's got a point though.Given that the AK100 is an aging DAP already, and with increasing mSD capacities, wouldn't the entire process of browsing...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

Hi Rob,   Could you do a similar test on a 300 ohm load?   I'm guessing a power output of somewhere in the 70-80mW range, which should be on par with some single-ended output from other respected portable amps.

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

From previous posts, Vrms output of the Mojo seems to be at ~5 Vrms.   But could someone convert it to this?   • ?mW into 32Ω • ?mW into 50Ω • ?mW into 300Ω • ?mW into 600Ω   Kinda difficult for me to compare it with other amps with that unit.   Thanks!

    Aurisonics ROCKETS: Impressions Thread

For those who have owned these iems for quite some time now,   Anybody had issues with the lack of strain reliefs on the wires near the earpieces? Unless the cable is not bendable at that point (which is unlikely), it will likely bend/deform in time and eventually fail.

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

With my search for "bang-for-buck" IEMs, I've stumbled upon a local store which offers the VSonic GR07 @ USD 120 and FLC 8S (which you've praised highly in your review) @ USD 320.   I'd take it that the GR07 is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade from the RE-400, right?   And the 8S...

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

Dammit, just checked the retail price of IM-02s here in our country and was surprised that it's priced at ~$350 USD. For reference, the Aurisonics Rockets and Kicker are locally priced at US $260, B2 at US $140, RE-600 at US $230 and RE-400 at US $95. It seems AT sets are steeply...

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

I'm currently looking for a replacement for my RE-400, which unfortunately has given up on me. As I always wear them over-the-ear, the wire near the strain relief broke off. Of course it had to be because of that poorly designed stain relief.   From your list, it seems that the Brainwavz B2...

    NEW! iBasso D-Zero Mk2

I've had the d-zero for quite some time now, but given that it is the first and only dac/amp that I've owned, I haven't experimented it with other equipment yet.   I'm planning on getting a Senn HD600, but I'm quite unsure if the amp section of the D-zero is capable enough. So my question is...

    The NEW ATH-ES700..

I'm getting kind of paranoid over having scratches on these nice earcups so I'm thinking of putting on some protective film over them.   Obviously those "sticks-using-static" ones won't work on these, so the only choice would be those adhesive-type ones.   The concern I have is whether the...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

I've only noticed it now, but the headband of my HP50 doesn't seem to be parallel to the earcups.   I mean, if I put the earcups on a flat surface, as it originates from the hinge, the band goes a little off by 5-10 degrees from parallel.   Nothing big really, but now that I saw it, it...

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

So, that wasn't just distortion due to the bad fit?   Is this the "Sennheiser veil" that I've been reading about? (sorry I'm new in all of this).   This lowered-treble wasn't as evident with the rest of the Sennheiser line-up that I demo'ed (4x9, 5x8 series) as it did with the Momentums, so...

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

I looked up the earcup dimensions of the Momentum at another thread "Size Matters" and found the dimensions 58mm x 43mm. I then measured the size of my ears, which measured roughly 65mm x 35mm (are these large by majorities' standards? :O). By then I knew that it might not be the headphone for...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

What sonic changes or improvements would I expect with the HP50, coming from RE-400?   The RE-400 is well-regarded among IEMS and I'm loving every bit of it. With the HP50 costing at least 2.5x that of the RE-400, I'm expecting at least a noticeable, not subtle, improvement.   Am I in for a...

    The Fiio X5 Thread

Could either the X5 or X3 drive 50-70 ohm headphones by themselves?   I tried a Senn 558 with my Touch 5th Gen and had to pump volume up to around 70%. Didn't sound good as well.

    Senn HD558 vs Momentum / NAD HP50

I've got a budget of around $300-350, and currently I'm choosing between these: Source: Touch 5th Gen   *local retailer prices a) Senn HD 558 (~$200) + E17 (~$150) b) Senn Momentum (~$350) c) NAD Viso HP50 (~$300)   Since the HD558 has been here for quite some time, I've been wondering...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

So I've read the specs of Fiio X3 and E17 and found these:   Fiio X3:   Fiio E17     Fiio X3:   Now for the noobish question,   With the two sharing the same important specs, does this mean that the X3 is an E17 that you can use on its own? Or does it have different sound?

    Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

I'm quite puzzled with one pair of tips that came with my RE-400.   They're the small, single-flange tips but on the interior there seems to be a rubber "bridge".   Is this a manufacturing defect? Or is it supposed to change something in the sound of the iem?   /rant *From the tips that...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

What set-up should I get so that I could use this with my iTouch 5th Gen?   I've read about the Apple CCK, then there's 3rd party adapters such as 30pin-to-Lightning and microUSB-to-Lightning available.   Will they do?   I'm not ready yet to jump on to more expensive portable amp/dacs such...

    HP50, HD558, HD598 or? for Home Use

I already have a Westone UM1 for use when I'm out commuting, so now I'm looking for a nice gear for home/office use.   Of the following, which would you guys recommend the most?   NAD Viso HP50 Senn HD 558 Senn HD 598   I'd prefer it if it needs no amp, but I guess I could buy at least a...
