  If you are only getting 180gb on the SD card then it doesn't work.  What you seem to be saying is that it reads the SD card but only to a maximum of 180 even if you put in a 256gb card.

I haven't tried the AK120 or the K10 and the quality of variations in components is a matter of subjective taste so you may be right at least to your ears.  That said, my AK240 and SE846 is one of those few purchases that I don't regret despite the price.  I doubt that he would be disappointed...

Tolerance or lack thereof can apply to either the plug or the jack.  Moon Audio strikes me as a quality company.  It's possible that the particular jack size chosen by AK is the problem.

Moon Audio's position regarding the variable tolerance of the Jacks makes sense.  A plug is an easier device to build to tolerance.

You indicated that the files are all in M4P format.  The problem is not with the AK240.  It is with the type of file that you are trying to copy.   You cannot transfer M4P files to the AK240 or to any other non-Apple dap.  M4P are copy protected Itunes files...
