im using the JKSPDIF ciunas with the Metrum octave mainly because it is battery powered, so isolated from the mac and mains power for a very resonable price compared to the Audiophilleo + battery psu.

Ok ive bypassed that brown SMC with great results, the1572 is singing like a bird,great tight bass, sweet highs, loads of detail and depth,by far the best bang for buck mod so far and all for 50 quid,result.

Hi i discovered the problem was that one of the Phillips tda1543 chips had died affecting both sides of the audio,even though there are 8 of them, 4 on each side .Through a process of elimination eg i removed one at a time until the distortion stopped i  then replaced with new from ebay for £4...
