For all intents and purposes, dual 3-pin vs 4-pin outputs are identical. In theory the 3rd pin on the 3-pins is for ground, but that's not used with headphones. Any shielding on the cable should be terminated to the ground lug, which grounds through the body of the connector.

Not really, the only Cavalli I have heard is the Crimson, no EC amps (a Black Widow is on order), etc. I have a Decware Taboo Mk. 3, but that is not a good amp to use with anything other than the LCDs and the HE-6.
