I'm thinking of saving up for the HD 800's? How would that be compared to the HD 600   I heard the HD 800 has an annoying peak around the 5.5-6K so I will probably do the Anaxilus mod to flatten the frequencies down a bit

I've heard the Schiit Mojo and Gungnir combo is great with the HD 600's especially when making the HD 600's balanced. I've read that it is just mind blowing.

Would the HD 600 be good with that combo though. I told myself that everything above that combo is overkill for them   You don't consider the HD 600's flagships?

Unamped they sound the same as amped so, the Bass is very clean, has good punch, mids sound neutral and dont seem to have color and are also pretty detailed and clear, treble is very detailed depending on what tracks I listen too and music genre, treble is pretty airy and the headphones do sound...

I have been using the HD 600's for over 5 months now, and when I use them unamped they sound they same as they are amped? I'm using the Asgard 2 and Modi, and I also have the FiiO E07K, still no difference?

Phone's, Computer audio, and this Bose music player   I mean I can tell differences between 320 kbps mp3 and FLAC/AAC/CD

Said the same thing but what about a driver literally sitting less then a cm away from your ear instantly playing sound?   Makes perfect sense, maybe that's the reason why we all lose hearing at older age, because the sounds around us every single day?

Got it on CD Spotify actually sounds really good. I cant notice a difference what so ever. It literally sounds like CD to me, coming from someone who can recognize 320 kbps mp3 vs AAC/FLAC   But I wonder how that whole album sounds on tubes

Now you know why I want a new DAC.    Sounds very grainy, loud and aggressive with the HD 600's.  There's a dip in mid range, so if you have bass heavy headphones its all sub.   You may say get a tube amp. But since it is the way the mastered it, its always good to have that terrible edgy...

A little off topic but can someone look up Jawbox - "Chicago Piano" and "Reel" on spotify or something and describe to me how it sounds? Theres 2 editions of the album shoot for the original and tell me how it sounds 

Well my goal is by the time I graduate high school I can maybe get my hands on the Schiit Mjolnir and Gungnir form the Schiit Asgard 2 and Modi. 

Going crazy over DAC's since this thread. I went and tested my dads GMC Yukan amp and DAC thing in the back seats (The thing inbetween both of the front seats where you store CD's). It allows you to plug headphones into it of course. Cool thing is I noticed a difference. It sound lifeless...

Only thing I have that would be considered crap on my system currently is the power cord.. 

I can't hear a difference between the Modi my Phone DAC and my FiiO to an old computer from 02' running Windows XP
