It's actually not the Tidal test itself, but a reworking of it, comparing 320kbps with "lossless". The sound levels and EQ are all the same, and it's an ABX. I think it's pretty legit, but maybe not. As a scientist, I trust it at this point - the methodology seems good.

I was totally in search of glasses-friendly headphones; there's precious few. Mad Dogs were among the best, now I realize. You should check out the Beyer Custom One Pro as well; it's a very versatile can and VERY comfortable for me with glasses on.

Good to hear! I'm a huge fan of good music - don't really care what kind it is, but I've gotta say that these X1s are the most versatile headphones I've ever, ever used.

I respectfully disagree that the X1s are bad for rock. I've found them to be very versatile - an exciting headphone for pretty much everything, and I own both them and the HD598. I find the HD598 great for opera and jazz.

Yeah, I get that there are plenty of good open-sounding closed headphones - I'm going to have to check out the TH900s - but I was just thinking out loud about modifying the Mad Dogs to have literal open backs (and then doing all the requisite tuning). Just being dumb!
