    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

From B3's listing: "The symmetrical H.O.D.D.D.U.S arrangement focuses the magnetic field at the magnetic gap of the two dynamic drivers, leveraging the same principle found in planar magnetic earphones. This not only improves energy conversion efficiency, but also further reduces nonlinear...

    The discovery thread!

I think I brought up the b3 may be using a push pull system like the Audio Technica's on the Moondrop thread and Moondrop's official user directly denied that's the case.

Aful Band 8 Pro(may be also Band 5 Pro) uses a maze-like sound tubes setup which the Performer 5 lacks. B8: P5: The Fearless ACME also got something crazy like that:

HBB had them graphed for a while. P5 and B5Pro seems like 2 different models.

    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

One part of the Variations that ppl complained about is recessed lower mid. And some samples more heavily than others according to reviewers like gizaudio. perhaps you got the perfect version lol

According to the ads they have the same BAs but the SR5 has a 10mm DD while SR3 has a 9.2mm DD. SR3: SR5:

They all interesting finds but I noticed they all DIYers on the "bore fish" Chinese local trade market ala craigslist. That's another level deeper than taobao/aliexpress that actually run shops and supported by Alibaba's system. Do they also have affiliated shops?

    Sound Rhyme impression thread

haha exactly. here is Sound Rhyme's official shop: https://m.tb.cn/h.UHLcKbv and secondary shop: https://m.tb.cn/h.UHowzri They carry from shells to new drivers, to recycled drivers, to resin. So it has all the potentials lol.

    Sound Rhyme impression thread

Here is another version of SR5: https://m.tb.cn/h.UHokmAf?tk=61Q4dkyfjjO Looks like just a shell swap. It seems whoever is making them also used other brand name like Cklvx. They even share all the advertisement images, etc. Xenns/Mangird is a higher level shop that creates unique products I'm...

    The discovery thread!

There are really tons but here are a few. One of the more established (relatively) shop that nobody talks about is Toneking: https://m.tb.cn/h.UHoSMXv mbquart was a supposedly an originally German audio brand that failed in China and got it's name(in China exclusively) bought out by these ppl...

    Sound Rhyme impression thread

lol These are really "organization" brand like Moondrop, Fiio, etc. In the Chinese market there are many small shop crafters that offer "brand tagging" with whole sales. Its easy to pump out "new models" if you see the "brand" is taking off some where. Not saying that automatically diminishes...

    The PENON official thread

I guess it makes sure ppl can't scam them for free cables but in my case they gained nothing at the end anyway since they gave a refund.

    The PENON official thread

lol I had the same experience with another seller on AliExpress or eBay I can't remember. I thought he was just really pissed I requested to return a defective cable and just made up some hoops for me to jump through, is it actually some kinda policy?

    The discovery thread!

taobao.com has international shipping/forwarding service built in. It's pretty usable with just google translate. Though they collect sales tax for address in the US, so if it provides a way around that it may still be worth it.

I just got bit by a scammer.......

Scary stuff. That's why any positive and preferably recent classified feedback is a must for high value transactions.

Introducing ONI IEM - World's First All MEMS Transducers IEM

It's interesting. But $1.5k for experimental looking gears backed by words and few photos. Should be a good testament on audiophiles' bank accounts. I'd expect something like this would do better on Kickstarter.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I believe that's the Voyager, an actual wireless set. They stated that the neckband will probably get release before it.

The image is the only info right now lol Just hoping it got 5.3 or will have to wait for Fiio's next gen lineup in the fall.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Moondrop's upcoming neckband. Possibly first brand-name Bluetooth 5.3 adapter before Fiio?

Xenns Top vs UM Mest mk2

I had the Top for a brief period as well. It's great overall with very good separation. Its sound stage depends a lot on a track's bass presence: sounds wide when there's a lot and not very otherwise. Its shell is pretty small, probably same size as many 4ba sets with nozzles at 6.1mm, which is...
