I have owned both. I found the AF180 ahead in every aspect. I usually don't regret selling earphones but the AF180 I truly miss. I also prefer AF180 over all shure and westone universal products except for the se846.

It definitely sounds good. Rich in the fullness of the frequency spectrum through one speaker but I don't think the overall sound quality is worth $1000. I am assuming it's the price of the technology and the AK name value rather it's price based purely on it's sound.

With my experience with the af180, I had no problem of the sort. In fact, they are still in my top 5 list of universals.
