    Rank the IEM's you've heard

    1. Sony MDR EX-800ST with silver cable made by Peterek. Sounds like speakers strapped to my head. 2. TDK BA-200. Still like the sound of the mids on these 3. CCA C10 4. KZ ZS3. Bought for my daughter but work great for movies. 5. Don't remember a bunch I've tried. Nothing very expensive.

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread

Just my 2 cents. BTW, I'm not a contributor or anyone special...just a guy that loves enjoying music. From owning and trading quite a few headphones, amps, dacs, and daps, I have learned that, IMHO, it's best to find the headphones with the sound you enjoy rather than investing a lot in...

I'm looking at the Cayin C5D as I can bypass the DAC on the phone through an OTG cable. Does the E17 need an app like UAPP to run?

Ifi micro idsd is $325 or so, Mojo about $100 more. What about $100-200 range? I know I didn't specify price, but are there good options in that range?

Question for you bassheads: what portable DAC/Amp would you recommend for the Galaxy S7? I'd love to run Spotify and other apps natively and the on board stuff is tinny. I heard one recommendation for the Fiio E18.

BTW, you can get some great deals on the 7550/EX800 in the classifieds. I got mine almost new for $169 and couldn't be happier. I've seen even cheaper.

    TDK BA200 Thread

Acupass is actually a product of Sonion that TDK utilized. There are other iems that utilized the same drivers but without the impedance correction in the cord. I've never seen the impedance circuitry on a cord except for TDK. The Sonion website explains the Acupass pretty well...I remember...

I agree that the EPH100 has good quality bass but disagree that it is basshead level. My Sony EX800/MDR7550s are on a different level completely. I have to rest my ears from a basshead workout with the Sonys. The Yamahas were pretty flat/neutral to me. Different kind of sound but not basshead.

Just my 2 cents, but I had a vacuum issue due to a difference in fit from one ear to the other. I swapped to medium sized JVC spiral dots and haven't had an issue since. For whatever reason, the design of the 7550/EX800 tips downward just right in one of my ears with Sony tips and caused a...

According to my observations, taping the vents on the MDR7550's/EX800's raises the bass level but doesn't lower the mids.  The mids can take a bigger back seat to the bass, but they're still there in full effect.  I don't know about the 2.5's, so I won't comment on those.  IMO, my EX800's are...

I haven't had any luck with SureSeal tips. I'm currently using medium JVC Spiral Dots with my EX800's and enjoying them. Best compromise I've found so far.

Awhile back, I was listening to a pair of T-Peos H100's through a Geek Out 450. Suddenly heard a loud, lower pitched pop that hurt. I think it was the dynamic as now that earpiece has intermittent bass. When it isn't working, the bass rattles and lacks any depth. Don't know what happened. I...

I have an ear health/basshead question: I've overstimulated my ears with bass. Is there a good way to recover from ear soreness and tinnitus? Complete silence? Over the ear headphones? Time period? Just curious as I've seen others mention struggling with this problem.

Gotcha. Maybe you're just needing something that doesn't need an amp. I'll leave that to someone else though as there are many with more informed opinions or advice than me.

I don't own the XB90s, but I've read in this thread numerous times that amping and EQing will make the bass come out. Out of the plastic, my EX800s have pretty good bass. Add an amp, clean source, some tape and EQ, your eardrums will bleed. If you can, try to push the XB90s. It sounds like...

Yes, amping helps considerably IMO. The 7550 with amping and vents covered came highly recommended to me from this thread and I completely agree.

I've found the 7550 mids to be excellent and can be pretty lush and forward, depending on your setup. The treble is rolled off to me. But, this is the basshead thread, so cranking up the bass puts the bass up front, which is outstanding with the 7550. I agree with hawaiibadboy on the Allman...

DIY your own Theme for your lovely X3

Random question and maybe I'm the only one to experience this, but everything installed and seems to work fine but the navigation wheel or "Quick Menu" is not an option.  Any thoughts?  Anyone else have this problem?  It looks great and seems to function perfectly otherwise.

I'd like to mention that the EX800/MDR7550 are excellent for watching movies.  I love how sounds pan from left to right, you have a great, immersive soundstage, and the bass hits deep so you get that movie theater feeling.  Loving these more and more.

Yeah, I quickly determined who they were in reading through these pages.  I really appreciate the help you and some others have given too.  That's why I ended up getting the EX800 in the first place.  I'm loving the sound and extreme bass levels but don't have the experience yet.  Really...
