Seeking suggestions for an audio solution

Quote: But would the headphone jack on a common receiver even be able to power the headphones to a listening level? Most receivers seem to deliver about 50mW at around 32 Ohms, but the HE-500's want at least 1W at 38 Ohms.

Seeking suggestions for an audio solution

Hello all, and thanks in advance for the help. Here is my dilemma: I own a PC Creative ZxR sound card, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and have a pair of Hifiman HE-500 headphones on order. I want to be able to run the headphones from all of these things. Currently I will have the headphones running...

Can this Peachtree amp drive the HE-500's?

Quote: That's a good idea; but the speaker taps require a left AND right input, don't they? The headphones only have a single 1/4" jack.

Can this Peachtree amp drive the HE-500's?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a very good deal for a used Peachtree musicBox. My concern is that its headphone amp is not powerful enough to push the HE-500's that I've ordered. According to http://www.peachtreeaudio.com/musicbox-amplifier-with-dac.html the headphone amp has "Maximum Output...

    DAC on a computer monitor?

Will it be? That's why I'm asking, I wasn't sure if the sound would be best either coming directly from the console or by going to the sound card first

    DAC on a computer monitor?

I almost forgot to mention that my third option is to run optical from each console into the optical-in on my sound card on my PC using an optical switch box, and then run the headphones directly out from the sound card, since it already has a nice headphone amp built in.

    DAC on a computer monitor?

Hello all. I recently purchased a pair of HE-500 headphones, and am looking to get the best from them in all my applications. I'm currently setting up my video game systems (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U) to my station and in looking at how to connect headphones I've noticed that my console monitor...

Can the Creative ZXR sound card's headphone amp drive the Hifiman He-500?

Awesome. I might just do the smart-person thing and take my headphones down to an audio retailer, stick them in a small amp, see if anything different happens, and then go from there. Thanks for your help!

Can the Hifiman HE-500's be driven by a Creative ZxR sound card's headphone amp?

I have been looking at the Schiit combo a lot this evening. So are you saying then that the ZxR amp is NOT capable of driving the headphones? Also, if I was to get the Schiit: I can understand getting the amp because I need the power; but the DAC in the ZxR is more than capable, possibly even...

Can the Creative ZXR sound card's headphone amp drive the Hifiman He-500?

Quote: Thanks for your replies obobskivich; very helpful thus far. I've seen several posts telling people with similar headphones to get an amp and DAC combo, but so far I am inclined to think that even if the amp in the ZxR isn't strong enough, the DAC is perfectly fine and on-par with...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

I feel now that the $250 on this sound card was more or less completely wasted if I'm just going to bypass everything with external hardware. Should I just return the sound card, in this case, or can it still serve a purpose?

Can the Hifiman HE-500's be driven by a Creative ZxR sound card's headphone amp?

Hello all, and thanks in advance for the help. I recently ordered the HE-500's, and am trying to decide whether I should keep them or not. The card's specs are here: http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sound-blaster-zxr.aspx#specs   In short, the card has a 600 ohm 80mw headphone amp, the...

I was going to start a new thread, but maybe this is a better place for this question:     Can the HE-500's be driven by my new sound card; the Creative ZXR? The card's specs are here: http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sound-blaster-zxr.aspx#specs   In short, the card has a 600 ohm...

Paradigm Shift A2 or Paradigm Shift Millenia CT?

Hello everyone, I could really use some help with this question. I have been scouring the Internet for days, looking for ANYTHING that compares these two solutions. From what I can find, nothing does. Dozens of separate reviews claim each is excellent for various reasons, and I am at a loss as...
