    Wooden headphone advice

RS-1. Suited for your type of music and is it not that "RS" is short for "Reference Series"? Looks good too...not too spaced-out looking. Wood and leather, simple, sweet and smooth (like butter). Not that I am a Grado fan boy, but it is not a classic headphone for nothing.

BeyerDynamic DT770/80 or Grado SR 225?

Dt770 definitely for ultra low frequency bass...SR225 for hard rock/metal. I love both but the DT770 gets used more often due to minimal sound leakage, being closed cans. Would not advise if you are claustrophobic....

    Is my DT880 faulty?

The thing with it is that you really have to crank it up to open up the bass. I can see why some ppl thought the bass was lean (it is if it is in low-medium volume). The sub woofer-like bass has just a depth that I have never heard on a set of headphones (under $300) and I have experimented with...

    Is my DT880 faulty?

Folks, I have been a long time devotee of the clean sound of the DT880 and until recently I use the cans for classical as well as jazz music. For my bass requirements I have a Darth Beyer DT770. Anyway, last night I thought that I would crank up my DT880 while listening to Portishead...

    Who here smokes pipe tobacco?

Yep, I share your pain gents...but I will also say that since I switched to pipe tobacco, my smoking has lessened as it is such a ritual to pack the pipe well, choose a tobacco for my mood, light it with a matchstick, lol, by the time I am done...its a good three minutes to get it all going, but...

    Who here smokes pipe tobacco?

Howdy folks, Just wondering who among us here smokes pipe tobacco. I have taken on this other new hobby even if I am being labelled uncool, as dammit pipe smoke gives me a lot of satisfaction and seems like a lost art. Also collecting and finding nice pipes fits in with my compusive obsessive...

Gentlemen (& ladies), Would self-regulation be beyond the members of this community? Perhaps this is what we need to do. Of course there will always be the non-conformist, being a free world (for most), may I suggest that in the future there be a ethical rules that we as members abide by...

    HF-1: Headfier profiteering

Appreciate the varied responses guys. I shouldn't forget about market demand, low supply.... apparently, I am supposed to be an economist by trade. My gripe is not about the price of a given product. Somehow, I was naive enough to care about Headfi missing out on funding while the 'scalpers'...

    HF-1: Headfier profiteering

Hi folks, Does it not make you sick that Grado offered this for headfiers receiving only $175 ($25 to Headfi) while our co-members are profiting for more than 3 times the amount? Grado should offer this for sale again to members only (post count 100 minimum to prevent newbs from ripping...

    Grossed Out By Used Phones?

Eucalyptus and tea tree oil to dab on the frame (avoiding the nomenclature), wash the pads...good as new. Smells like a koala, a bit organic but still sounds sweet (tip from GF).

    Jesus and Mary Chain

Darklands (the album), lots of nostalgia for me....mid 80's indie. I actually like this album more than any of their releases, a bit radio friendly than the previous ones (plenty of raw guitar feedback). I have all their albums.

    beyerdynamic DT-880

The older version has the bigger bang for the buck. The difference is not noticeable I think, but then if you pay a bit more, you would be wanting some improvement (no matter how slight). Besides I think the older version looks classic beyer. The new one looks like a sega/nintendo/space...
