    Classic Jazz 1957 - 1968 Discussion

I'm pretty new in jazz and I use Wikipedia and the The Penguin Guide to Jazz (latest version, not the older ones) to find "new" artistes to listen with a streaming service.   When I like it, I buy the CDs, if possible in a box set because I like to have a more global look at the career and...

    Grado Fan Club!

No problem with a cheaper option. I liked my Shure SRH1440 until I started to listen to jazz. I found them a little too distant and polite. I bought a pair of Grado SR225i and since then it's true love!   So much that I'm gonna buy a RS1i pair very soon!

Recommend me some of that "Jazz" I keep hearing about?

Miles Davis - "Kind of Blue" is on the SimCity 3000 soundtrack and it's a good start for a jazz discovery.

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II

A friend told me: "The instrument separation is too good and I can hear too much details, I just can't concentrate my attention on the music" when hearing my Shure SRH840.  He used to listen music...through his MacBook's speakers! I sold him these few weeks later.

    Audiophiles, Gear in Switzerland?

The K55 "Kopfhörer Testcenter" is the only place I know with such a large choice you can listen and try. But if you're looking for an audio shop in Geneva, take a look at this list of "Grado dealers". These are real audio shops with many other brands of audio gear.

    How to organize FLAC files?

I am on Mac OS and use "Audirvana+" to put and read FLAC files in my iTunes library. It works pretty well and can convert files in ALAC so you can read them in itunes with or without the software. The problem is that this solution is not free (74$), but this is not the only feature of this software.

    Best drug-related album/CD or most "trippy" CD/album...

I find "Revolver" from the Beatles very trippy. The sitar makes me feel like time distorts and I'm floating in the room...

Where do you all source your high quality tracks from?

I buy and rip CDs myself and sometimes download files from "qobuz.com", even in their "Studio Master" quality.   Never tried a vinyl rip...

The Beatles or Pink Floyd.....Cast your vote

Quote:   I really like to read the context and listen to the works of an artist/band in a chronological order. But thank you, I'll keep this in mind and try to get it in better quality!

The Beatles or Pink Floyd.....Cast your vote

Beatles for me, but I have to confess a serious lack of knowledge about Pink Floyd! Maybe my next "music monster" I'll have a serious look at...
