No comment on the stock app, since I use UAPP. Having said that: UAPP works perfectly with 9.- Scotteq

Camera app > settings > toggle sound off. (some locations require camera noise by law, though) Battery life seems fine: from 100% at 7am to 91% at 10 to 6pm. Very light usage today.- Scotteq

The Dragonfly does not have its own power. It uses what is available over the USB connection. So, if you plug one into your phone, it'll be running off of the phones battery.- Scotteq

LG V40 ThinQ
Tried it with mine, but it doesn't seem to work over wired USB. If you were intent on getting something, you could probably set the phone up as a Bluetooth device and steam audio to it. But that would be compressed/lossy. Seems to me that would defeat the purpose. A quick prayer to the...- Scotteq

LG V40 ThinQ
There was an earlier question regarding whether or not the V40 has an FM Radio: There is no app (on Verizon, anyways), but for sure this version of the phone has an FM chip in it. I installed NextRadio, and when I started the app, it said "Lucky You! Your Device has FM enabled so you can...- Scotteq

LG V40 ThinQ
(USA, Verizon) My unit seems to be working fine - Driving a pair of 250 Ohm Beyers very well. As expected, given the 50 Ohm switch from single to quad, the results with KEF M500s and Oppo PM3 aren't as impressive, but I can still tell the difference when switching the DAC on and off. I...- Scotteq

LG V40 ThinQ
<VERY long time, no post...> I just got mine, and spent some time digging around before I figured out I had to activate the DAC in the settings before it would come on: Settings > Sound > Sound Quality and Effects, and toggle the High Quality DAC switch. Once done, the phone auto detects the...- Scotteq

Using Hifiman speaker amp adaptor for my HD-650 to Cary 805?
Yes - People do run Orthodynamic headphones - like the HE600 - off of small tube amps (usually single ended triodes) which put out a few watts. HD650s are not Orthos. Their power handling is rated at 500mw. That is one half of one watt. I sincerely believe that driving HD650s with a...- Scotteq

Using Hifiman speaker amp adaptor for my HD-650 to Cary 805?
(1) Headphone amplifiers are considered strong if they put out 2 watts, those Cary monoblocks are 50 apiece (2) Senn HD 650s are 300 Ohms. Not 8. (3) I highly doubt the headphones will be able to handle that much power, and therefore opine you're likely to fry either the Senn's...- Scotteq

Dynamic sound vs Planar Magnetic sound
Quote: The definition I learned a long time ago was that a transient is a short lived/sudden sound - such as a snare drum hit. And that transient response refers to a piece of gear's ability to render that sound accurately. <shrug>- Scotteq

Dynamic sound vs Planar Magnetic sound
"Transients" refers to how well a piece of gear handles very fast waveforms - The leading edge of a drum or cymbal hit, for example. Or a finger snap. If a component handles these well, the result will be crisp and accurate.- Scotteq
