No comment on the stock app, since I use UAPP. Having said that: UAPP works perfectly with 9.

Camera app > settings > toggle sound off. (some locations require camera noise by law, though) Battery life seems fine: from 100% at 7am to 91% at 10 to 6pm. Very light usage today.

The Dragonfly does not have its own power. It uses what is available over the USB connection. So, if you plug one into your phone, it'll be running off of the phones battery.
