I don't think receivers drive headphones too well, I plugged my HD555's to my Denon 3808 receiver and noticed it didn't sound as crisp as hooking them up to even my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers headphone input.

I use my HD280 and HD555 strictly at home, I save the PX100 for on the go

Im looking to get either the k601 or k701 in the near future, I currently have the HD280, PX100 and HD555, will I notice a major improvement over those? Ill be looking to guy an desktop amp in the near future as well.

I've had mine close to a year, got em on ebay for less than $60. They were used but in good condition , no problems yet.

Anyone know any that compares to the akg k601 or k701 in the $100 price range the order I placed along with many others from the deal the other day was cancelled so i'm looking to get some of similiar quality if possible, I own the senn HD280 and PX100 already.
