My pair of headphones is looking for a good home. :) These cost $500 new (+ tax). I am willing to let them go for $299, shipping is free within the US. Con: you will need to get a new pair of earpads. The foam held up just fine, but the lining on the cloth is pretty weak. You can buy a...- zalbard

Neumann NDH 20
Go to https://en-us.sennheiser.com/service-support-contact-center, or email <contactcenter-crm@sennheiser.com>. I am wondering the same thing. I measured the headband, and the dimensions appear to be rather close. It's less than $10, so I may give it a try. I would be also interested in a...- zalbard

Impedance Adapters/Cables | Explained & Listed
Hi all, thanks for the list. My laptop comes with a built-in amp (no, seriously...), and it is unusable with pretty much all IEMs I own due to constant hissing noise. I am looking to reduce it using an impedance adapter. My IEMs are 32 Ohm, I tried 250 Ohm headphones and the noise is...- zalbard

Two New Soundcards From Creative : Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD and X-Fi HD
A question for those who have experience with X-Fi Titanium HD. What should I set my system volume to (Win 7) to achieve unity gain of 0.0 dB? Is it 100%? 50%? Some other value? Creative seems to recommend 100% volume for RMAA testing (source). However, I am not sure, and some people...- zalbard

Proper procedure for powering on/off an amplified audio station?
Good day, everyone! Us audiophiles like to obsess over things, it seems. One thing that is bothering me recently (after reading about Asgard and AKG) is the procedure of powering off and on my setup, and the possible damage it may inflict to my gear. I have my amplifier connected to...- zalbard

I got 75% from the first try and I thought I would score really bad, lol. Quote: Agreed. It was really confusing at first. -

Q701's and xonar STX or creative ZX sound card
Quote: No good for gaming, no gaming sound tech support (EAX, CMSS / DH, etc). OP, either of these cards will do fine, depends on your preferences. X-Fi is still the best for gaming, though.- zalbard

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Thanks for your feedback! Might be a stupid question, but... Can all of the op-amps be installed in pairs (using something like this). Just wondering whether it's going to work with 2x LM4562NAs, or if I can only use one of these on a single socket biasing adapter.- zalbard

I have one of these units coming in a couple of weeks. Looking into better OP-AMPs right now. Is anything objectively more resolving than Class A Biased LM4562? Thanks!- zalbard

Quote: From what I've read, definitely at least doable. Quote: I think it has to do with post count, I have the same issue. Quote: Glad to hear that, thank you. My HD 800s are still on their way, so not sure how they will react to different amps, but I haven't been very...- zalbard

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
Out of more affordable amps, what would work better: Little Dot MK IV SE, or Matrix M-Stage? Or maybe O2 amp? Has anyone owned both to compare? These look like the best amps at sub 300 USD price point to couple with HD 800, but maybe I missed something. I am willing to look at...- zalbard

something is wrong with my ears
Quote: Yeah, rushed decisions are no good. You can't even get a minimal scope of all the frequences in 10 seconds. But the rest of the post I can also agree on. I think carefully choosing test tracks and trying to pay close attention to them, and also not taking long breaks between...- zalbard
