Nice! That's very close to what I was looking to do as well. I bet it sounds awesome coming out of your setup! I've heard great things about those KEF ls50's

I love Mcintosh gear so much, I really need to suck it up and buy one of their amps.  Also is that a project debut carbon to the right? I've been really debating getting one or just getting a nice cartridge on my technics table

I have the m40fs and I absolutely love them. I can easily wear them for several hours at a time and do. These headphones need some power going to them to get the most out of them but when they do they're fantastic. I have them running out of a marantz 2230 and they are prolly the best $45 Ive spent.

I would download some pink noise and burn them in for awhile with it. It def helped with my crossfades. Glad you like them :) they sound even better with a dac aswell.

I don't listen to a ton of metal music but from what I have listened to I had to adjust the eq on my iPhone for metal with them. Once I did that they sound good. Also remember that these def need to be burned in. I noticed a huge difference after I burned them in with some pink noise for like 30...

Based on what you're looking for I'd suggest checking out the v-moda crossfade lp's. They are built really well, have a removeable cable(one with mic and one without). They have plenty of bass and can be driven very easily from an iPhone. You can get them on amazon for like $112 right now.

Thanks for the review!! I've been debating between these and the Takstar 671's.  There are so few reviews for these headphones it was nice to get someones take on them!
