Audirvana Plus vs. BitPerfect vs. Fidelia
I really like all 3 programs, but, Fidelia with the FHX plug-in gets my vote.- OckhamsRazor

Guitar-fi anyone?
I've played since I was 13 (about 19 years) and have 4 guitars: a Guild S300A-D (a pretty rare, idiosyncratic instrument from the the late 70s), a '73 Strat, an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul (wine red), and a Martin D18S. I play at home through a Vox VT20+, but I have a 1965 Fender Pro Reverb...- OckhamsRazor

Project Sunrise/PS2 Tube Rolling Thread (and maybe even Project Horizon and Project Ember)
Quote: I definitely have to try out an Amperex 12au7. I've been using a Mullard 12au7 for the past few days and it's really amazing. It has a weighty and warm, yet detailed sound and is noticeably more 3D sounding than the other tubes I've tried. I'm really enjoying it!- OckhamsRazor

Quote: I've never done a direct comparison, but I have used Wilkinsons, which I find to be good blades. However, I find the Gillettes to be exceptionally smooth, confortable, and long lasting. Blades preferences vary wildly though, so I recommend trying out as many as you can.- OckhamsRazor

Quote: Ah, well if your hands are very large you may very well be more comfortable with the larger handle. I just feel that the added weight of a large handle makes it a little more difficult to use very little pressure against the skin, which is an important component of DE safety razor...- OckhamsRazor

Quote: There isn't an advantage per se, it's really just a matter of preference. The Grande, along with other heavy-handled razors, like the Merkur 38C, are regarded by many as more aggressive razors than their lighter counterparts by virtue of the fact that they situate more weight...- OckhamsRazor

Quote: Truthfully, I haven't either. However, I belong to a couple of wet shaving forums and the consensus is that the heads are the same, but that the different handles result in a somewhat different feel and balance; the EJ is a little more handle-heavy than the Muhle.- OckhamsRazor

I ordered a Mullard 12AU7 yesterday. I'll post my thoughts once I've listened to it a little.- OckhamsRazor

The Muhles are very nice razors, but the Edwin Jagger DE89 series uses the same head design and costs a lot less. They're fantastic razors.- OckhamsRazor

Project Sunrise/PS2 Tube Rolling Thread (and maybe even Project Horizon and Project Ember)
I've tried the following non-stock, vintage tubes in my PSII: 1. Telefunken 12AU7 2. Amperex 'A frame' 6DJ8 3. Raytheon black plate triple mica 12AT7 They all sound crisper, punchier, and more spacious than the stock tube, but they all have their individual quirks. I go back and...- OckhamsRazor

What headphones are you currently rocking?
The Hifiman HE-400. I really love these cans. My Shure SRH840 and Senn HD558 have been collecting dust since I acquired these bad boys.- OckhamsRazor

Is itunes okay for music?
I use Fidelia (advanced with the FHX plug-in) and I find it to be a big improvement over iTunes, though it's a little pricy. Bit Perfect is a more economical option, which also imparts a noticeable improvement.- OckhamsRazor

Rank the Headphones that You Own.
I only recently became a headphone enthusiast, but I have picked up three sets of cans: 1. Hifiman HE-400 - I've had these for about 2 weeks now and they are a noticeable step up from my other two sets. Fantastics phones. 2. Sennheiser HD558 - This is the second set of cans I got...- OckhamsRazor

DAC under $200 for HE-400/PSII Combo
Quote: Thanks, I'm definitely leaning toward the ODAC based on what I've read. The consensus (with a few exceptions of course) seems to be that it performs well above its price level. Quote: Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated.- OckhamsRazor

DAC under $200 for HE-400/PSII Combo
Thanks very much for the suggestion. I've never tried to build a DIY device (I bought my Project Sunrise pre-built). Though I'm not at all opposed to giving it a shot, the gamma2 looks like it might be a little tough for a first-timer. I'll keep an eye out for a used one though. Looks like a...- OckhamsRazor

DAC under $200 for HE-400/PSII Combo
Hi All, This is my first post here at Head-Fi after lurking around for a couple months. I'm glad to be aboard. I recently picked up a pair of Hifiman HE-400s, which I'm really loving. I'm powering them with a Project Sunrise II amp, which is proving to be an excellent combo. However...- OckhamsRazor
