I've seen a few reviews on here in which the reviewers refer to the soundstage of a headphone as being linear, usually in pointing out a headphone's shortcomings. for the life of me I can't quite figure out what this means. My only guess is that the soundstage lacks depth. Someone please help me...

An hour of play time in my Lyr and I already think I'm in love with these 1960 Bugle Boy large halo getters. I've got a pair of 69' Orange Globes coming later in the week, but They'll have to seriously be amazing to top what I'm hearing with the Bugle Boys.

So after selling the Voskhods, I ordered a pair of 1960 Bugle Boy large halo getters. I don't really have any expectations whatsoever; I'm just excited to try them out.

How would any of you who have run the stock GEs for any amount of time characterize their sound?

  They are Voskhods. It appears to be a flat plate that curves at the top, kinda like a street light would.

I have 75' Grey shields. I'm not sure about the getter situation.

  I've found some good prospects, but I have to say these Voskhods are really starting to open up. I think I may not have given them enough time before passing judgement.

    Any suggestions as to the year/getter that would work out best with the HE500?

I can't speak for the other headphones, as I've not heard them, but I can say after having owned the On1 for a few months now that the bass is plentiful and very impactful.

I actually read an article somewhere where a guy was comparing a few amps with the 400. If I'm not mistaken it was the Fiio E17/E09k, the Burson Soloist, and the Lyr. His general impression was that the major difference between the fiio rig and the Lyr was that the bass tightened up...

After I'd had my HE-400 for a while I was torn between investing in better equipment to bring out more of the 400's potential and just buying the HE-500. The overwhelming consensus is that the HE-400 really doesn't scale enough to merit an amp/dac upgrade and that I should just upgrade my phone...

Actually from what I understand the big flagship project for Fang , and the big "hush hush" secret from CES is the Jade 2 electrostat. That's not to say that the HE-6 won't undergo a major revision.

I figured that since I plan on buying a Lyr later this month, that between tube rolling, cable swapping,  and possibly mods, whatever small tweaks I need to make to the sound signature I can achieve progressively through experimentation.

Well, as much as I wanted to hold out until March for the release of the 560, the potential for QC issues with the new model (as with any newly released product), coupled with the way too tempting reduced price of the 500 led me to pull the trigger on a pair last night. I'm really excited.

The right side of the cable to my 400 has shorted out because the part of the connector that's before the "screw" has detached itself. I think it may have been more due to my own carelessness than any design flaw, but beyond that I haven't had any issues with the connectors.
