Audioengine D1 to TubeMagic D1 Plus, Worth the Sidegrade?

The big idea here is to switch between my Turntable and my DAC as source components without having to reach behind my amplifier and destroy the jacks with frequent plugging and unplugging.  The headphone amp is more of an afterthought since I'm only rocking the SR60i at present and I'm enamored...

Audioengine D1 to TubeMagic D1 Plus, Worth the Sidegrade?

Quote: I don't really want coloration; I guess what I'm looking for is the most transparency I can afford.  So, I've answered my own question.   I didn't mean to imply that there was no preamp, but it only has one input.  The preamp would be primarily for switching purposes, unless...

Audioengine D1 to TubeMagic D1 Plus, Worth the Sidegrade?

I've been using an Audioengine D1 for a few months now.  For the most part, it works well, but I need a little more expandability.  Basically, I want some preamp functionality without throwing down on a discrete preamp, so I was looking at the Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1 Plus (with the optional...

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

Quote:   I'll get on it, I hit a small snafu this afternoon when the SSD dislodged.  It was only sort of tacked down with hot glue, so I'll need to find a more secure mounting solution before I give RockBox a try.

Quote: Just to clarify, the heat issues are not inherent to the ZIF to mSATA version of the mod.  Something about the slim back from the 30GB model was causing the battery to short.  Now that I have the fat back in place there are absolutely no heat or battery issues.  I was also able to...

Battery Update:   8 straight hours of playback so far and I'm still in the green.  Things are looking good for battery life.

Quote: The battery life actually seems to be doing fine.  I've had it run shuffle for about 2 hours and it didn't even dip below 50%.  (It actually wasn't fully charged so that's more impressive than it sounds.)  I also rebooted it several times successfully.   The process was...

Quote: The Crucial M4 mSATA is based on the Crucial C400 mSATA.  You can find the product brochures online here; the power specs should be very similar to the 128GB if not the same. Quote: I used this adapter.  It works well and the user crashtack has a few posts in this forum...

Quote: It's a 30gb 5.5g, and up until the point where I snap it back together, it seems to work flawlessly with the SSD.   Update:  I think a fat back will solve my problem, for some reason things are just a little too tight once I snap everything together.  Will the headphone jack and...

I had a 128gb Crucial M4 mSATA drive working in a 5.5g Video, but only as long as the back was snapped open.  As soon as I close everything up the iPod gets warm and the battery starts to drain.  Any ideas?

    SR60i + Rockboxed Clip+ Headphone amp?

I'll definitely keep the Fiios under consideration then.  I've seen the Hippo Cri Cri suggested in lieu of the E11 once or twice, but I wouldn't even know where to find one.

    SR60i + Rockboxed Clip+ Headphone amp?

Now that you've brought it to my attention, I may get an amp just to avoid abusing the poor little Clip+, unless it's an easy repair.  However, I've heard that the E6 and E11 can be a little muddy

    SR60i + Rockboxed Clip+ Headphone amp?

Now that both of my iPods are dead (or too low capacity for my growing library) I want to put together a budget portable setup.  My plan so far is to grab a Clip+, Rockbox it, and add a 32gb SDHC.  I really like the warmth and clarity that I get from my SR60is and I've heard great things about...
