    Exercise Earphones?

I have played around with a bunch headphones for exercise. First I tried the etymotics hf3s. They sort of advertised them for working out an they touted their Kevlar cover. But I went through a few replacement sets because of sweat breaking the microphone. Also bone conduction is a big issue so...

    vPulse vs Mikros 70

You've probably already seen my opinion on this issue, but I did not like the mikros. I currently use two pairs of iem, the ety hf3s and the sennheiser cx680i. The sennheiser's I use for working out. They sound much better than the mikros in my opinion and they are half the price. The bass is a...

First timer, advice on the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (32 or 250 Ohms)

Hi Alex, my wife is from Vilnius so I will respond. Don't listen to loud music on headphones. You love music so why would you want to go deaf? It's very easy to damage your hearing. I have the 250 ohm 880s. At work, I listen with my iPad. They are loud enough for me and the sound quality is...

Can't wait to finally purchase. Final questions (Beyerdynamics, FiiOs, and Ohms)

Hmm.  So, why at the same volume level does a lower power amp sound less "full" with the same speakers. A few examples come to mind.  I can turn up my car stereo to nearly painful levels (in the treble frequencies) but the overall sound is pretty thin.  I add an amplifier to that and at lower...

Can't wait to finally purchase. Final questions (Beyerdynamics, FiiOs, and Ohms)

Nice post. Tube amplifiers I think behave differently though I don't know about how that works in headphone amps. I know with many tube guitar amps to get the best sound quality, you have to turn the gain all the way up. They even make limiters so you can do this at lower volumes. Of course...

Can't wait to finally purchase. Final questions (Beyerdynamics, FiiOs, and Ohms)

I agree. At home i use a firepod (it's for recording but it has a strong headphone amplifier) and a denon receiver which also has a strong headphone amp. The headphones sound better with those but they still sound good on the smaller stuff.

Can't wait to finally purchase. Final questions (Beyerdynamics, FiiOs, and Ohms)

I have the 880 250 ohm premiums and the FILO e7. On the iPhone and iPad, the max volume is bordering on sufficient for extended. Listening. The FILO e 7 is slightly louder. This is looked up the l9 or whatever that connects to charge output on the iPhone/iPad. The sound may be better wit the...

Issue with local store return policy on an over the ear headphone (day later, they won't accept) return, how do I sell?

Obviously, by the way, this is my opinion and my impression of the situation and the folks involved.

Issue with local store return policy on an over the ear headphone (day later, they won't accept) return, how do I sell?

I agree.  I understand their stance as well.  But, they should have told me verbally before the sale was finalized and they should have a consistent policy between their receipt and their posted policy on their wall for returns.  Further, the "manager's whim" thing shouldn't be legal, in my...

Headphones you regretted buying the most

Hmm. Bowers and Wilkins P5. I listened to a few jazz numbers at the store I bought them from and thought they sounded pretty good. Got them home and tried a few other genres and in direct comparison to my Beyerdynamic DT880s and was very disappointed (over emphasis in mid-bass frequencies...

Issue with local store return policy on an over the ear headphone (day later, they won't accept) return, how do I sell?

They are over the ear headphones, not underwear. Plus they had a 15 percent restocking fee, which I was willing to pay, but that option, which was not explained prior to purchase was apparently only valid for unopened headphones. Of course, a 15 percent restocking fee for an unopened box is...

Issue with local store return policy on an over the ear headphone (day later, they won't accept) return, how do I sell?

Hi all.  I am relatively new to this forum, so I apologize if this is not appropriate.  I purchased a pair of Bowers and Wilkins P5s yesterday for portable use.  However, after I got them home and compared them to my non-portable Beyerdynamic dt880s, I really did not enjoy the sound so much (too...

Bower and Wilkins P5 local audio store issue, not sure where to post

    What headphones to artists wear?

I did a lot of studio work as a musician long ago. My headphones were Sony V6 and Sennheiser hd280p. Both solid closed headphone options.

DT 880 250 Ohm very nice

I don't have the 770 or 990 for comparison. The 880s are my first open headphone. My dad has Stax electrostatics, but those are out of my price range and I've played around with some of the open Sennheiser's. I like having a relatively neutral headphone because I listen to a large range of...

    Sennheiser HD650 vs B&W P5

Completely different design purposes and I think, while the poster who responded is correct, that it's an unfair comparison. The P5s are designed to be portable headphones, hell, they even have apple mic controls. The P5s are small headphones (on-ear). The Sennheiser's are open and large. You...

DT 880 250 Ohm very nice

It has been an interesting journey for me to get to the Beyerdynamic DT 880 premiums. I've been trying to update my headphone/portables setups. On the move, I've been using the Etymotics HF3s. They sound great. I've ruined them a few times with sweat, so I picked up a pair of sennheiser in-ears...

    Martin Logan Mikros 70

To clarify my treble comment, this is particularly noticeable with cymbals but also the general sound feels dead, at least in comparison to the much cheaper sennheiser's and the more expensive ety hf3s. Also, while the mids are more forward, relatively speaking in the presentation, they aren't...

    Martin Logan Mikros 70

Hmm.  So, I have a pair of sennheiser 680 IEMs (the addidas version) for working out and I just threw those on for a direct ABAB comparison.  The Martin Logan's have no treble.  I think that's the bottom line.  There are some good aspects to them, but I think I am going to send them back.

"My question back to you is that, even if it is all psychological, if nothing changes, why not just break it in to "shut up" all the people who demand it?"     I don't think the psychological effect is necessarily insignificant. The proverbial Joe "Sixpack" likes bloaty bass.  Why? ...

Oh and I'll add that I haven't waited the "break in" period. Of course, my understanding is that "break in" is 100 percent psychological.
