    Perreaux SXH2 Headphone Amp(need advice)

I also own the SXH2. I'm feeding it with the Apogee MiniDac USB via custom Kimber Hero XLR to RCA interconnects. On the output side I'm currently using the Sony MDR-SA5000 headphones. I agreed at one time that the gain seemed to be on the low side, but then I cranked the Apogee output to max and...

    Perreaux SXH2 Headphone Amplifier

Greetings all! I own a SXH2 and have had it since right before they officially put it out on the market here in the U.S. (not exactly sure about the timeframe, but I'm guessing close to two years now....) I also own a SXH1, but the volume pot got messed up during a move. I contacted Perreaux...

Which Black Sabbath albums to get?

I'm a big Sabbath fan from way back in the '70's and IMHO the two best OZZY era albums were/are 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' and 'Sabotage'. They contain Ozzy's best vocal performances of his career and the band at the height of their creative powers. PLAY THEM LOUD!!! Of course I love...

    Apogee Electronics Mini DAC

I have my Mini-DAC hooked up to my pc via USB and then routed to the Perreaux SXH2 via a ZU mini to RCA y-adaptor and then finally outputted to the Sony MDR-CD3000. After 300 hours of continuous burn-in, this combination is simply DELICIOUS!!!!

    I'm finished with "Indie-Rock"... forever...

markl, I too have been listening to indie music for 20+ years and have owned over 10k cd's in my lifetime. I would say that the quality of all music in general has declined to some degree. Most major labels use the, "let's throw a hundred bands against the wall and see which ones stick"...

What would a Metallica/Beatles hybrid sound like?

Just stumbled across this site. These guys do a great parody of The Beatles and Metallica as if they were one... Very funny lyrics and a pretty good impersonation of Hetfield singing. A real hoot if you are into these bands, check it out: wxw.beatallica.com Free mp3 downloads! Here...

DRuM, Greetings! I just watched the videos and they are amazing! I've been a Spastic Ink fan for a long time. I can't listen to them all of the time because they are so intense, but I love to watch the looks on the faces of the uninitiated when I play it for them for the first time. I get the...

What would be the optimal headphone/amp for my Zen Xtra?

Greetings. I use my 40G Zen NX with a combination of the Supermini V6/Xin mini to mini interconnect and the Sony V6. Best concert ever?

I've seen so many shows that it would be very difficult to choose just one, so I'll name a few off the top of my head without breaking out the ticket stubs: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Tacoma Dome, Seattle (1987 or 1988?): Played for 4+ hours and the audience basically sang along...

    Underrated guitar players

I wholeheartedly agree the MK is a great guitarist. I never got to see him with Dire Straits or solo, but I did see him as Eric Clapton's 2nd/rhythm guitarist at the Tacoma Dome in Seattle during Clapton's 25th anniversary tour. I had 5th row center seats and it was one of the best shows that I...

    Overrated guitar players.

Sov, Don't get me wrong. Led Zeppelin was my first favorite rock band and I still listen to them to this day, but I've seen too many great shows with amazing guitar performances and none of Page's shows make even my top 50. Disclaimer: Please assume every statement to mean “to my ears”, "in...

    Overrated guitar players.

Sorry, but Jimmy Page sounds like crap live. He sounds like an amateur trying to play his own stuff. I've seen him plenty of times and he was fair at best. I wasn't comparing the talent levels of Lifeson and Townsend, but the particular use rhythm lead parts in their respective songs...

    Overrated guitar players.

How about most, if not all, of the 80's hair metal band guitarists? They followed Eddie Van Halen's example and basically copied all of his riffs and tricks. Not one shred of originality in the bunch. Is it me or are all of the popular nu-metal bands' guitarists pretty damn awful? For...

Speaking of Coryell... Check out: Larry Coryell/Tom Coster/Steve Smith - "Cause And Effect" LC's playing is especially ferocious on this cd. I also noticed that Allan Holdsworth's name was mentioned. He plays on the Tony Williams Lifetime cd that I previously listed as well as on Jean...

Greetings mm! I have ALL of Thin Lizzy's cd's and I agree that "Black Rose is excellent, but I also think that "Bad Reputation" and "Jailbreak" are just as phenomenal with "Johnny The Fox" and "Fighting" not far behind. So, if you like BR, then you should definitely check out the cd's that I...
