I use a Weller WES51 and Hakko 936 for work, and I've been liking the 936 more recently. Both are excellent stations in my opinion.

Hey guys, I moved back from my dorm recently, and one of the tips of my tubes broke on my MH. Can I still use it, or do I need to purchase a new one? I've attached a picture of the broken tube. Sorry about the large pic.

dang those things are old. By the way, the first 4 digits on the bottom are manufacturing date. The first 2 digits is the year, the 2nd 2 digits is the week of the year it was manufactured.

Just to give you an idea, I use a Weller WES1 with the original tip to solder SMD down to 0805 quite a bit, and have no problems with it.

I have the same problem as well. I thought it was a bad cap or something, but since you guys have the same problems, it may just be that headphones can't be driven directly off the DAC.
