HE400SE play really nice SQ with Balanced Cable plus if you are planning to upgrade, 4.4mm to dual 3.5mm now is widely use on DAC/AMP. Most 2.5mm are being use on DAP. Never going back to use single ended. You can get it cheap at Aliexpress.

Have you try it with 4.4 mm balanced output from iFi Hip DAC? Mine Hip Dac is still on RMA but I using it with PAW S1 and iFi Zen DAC with balanced cable.

It still produce sound if you are using 3.5mm output to 3.5mm input on AMP like Fiio A3 but Lotoo PAW S1 already has AMP in it. Better invest in Balanced Cable 4.4mm to take advantage of the 120mW output

Just got my balanced cable today and it make a huge listening experience. The bass are more tamed and controlled with clarity all over the range of frequencies. There's no turning back once you go balanced I guess.
