I usually use a service to 3d print my stuff but I guess I'll learn how to use slicing software now Edit: Huh, it was easy. Thanks @jgs2n

sorry, I meant the heated inserts that gb160 did. I kinda want to start another one, but even the reinforced one is prone to split with wood pla. I guess I'll just start buying heated inserts and see how it goes

???? The one I'm referencing is the stl that has threaded inserts but only has the bass holes and 3.5mm connectors. I'm pretty sure that post#1 doesn't have threaded inserts...

I realize that it's been a while but is there a version where there's a bass screw and hirose connectors?

You can reuse the fostex screws, no need to buy more. The bass screw, I've found, is a perfect fit with 2mm instead 2.5mm.

Actually the last layer of urushi lacquer is supposed to be the clear coat, but my stupid butt thought to try to make it a transparent red by mixing a little too much iron oxide. If the last layer of lacquer had a bit less iron oxide mixed in, I probably would have gotten what I wanted. After...

Sadly, I couldn't get the same finish as the th900, probably put the lacquer on too thick over the silver leaf. It definitely looks pretty good though

Urushi is fun. Sanding for a couple hours after it's been cured is...not LOL

Dude, at some point, I remembered that I had that helping hands thing and used that to hold the wires. Slow af but at least most of it was uniform

You think sleeving is bad? Try braiding an 8 wire cable. I swear I developed arthritis from doing this.

    Grado SR80 wiring

hi, I have the same issue with my left channel on my grado sr60s and did the same thing as you. I thought I was going crazy for a while and kept on soldering and re-soldering the contacts on the driver. I found that I could get sound by pressing down on the contacts but figured that I'd have to...

That's without shipping included too... Well, they usually have a discount code somewhere or if you don't mind waiting, a promo period will pop up soon. I got quoted around 100usd because of that.

I would be too... If urushi wasn't so expensive.... 350 usd before shipping to get what I want... Another 30 to make the urushi furo for curing...Lord knows how much I'll spend on sanding and brushes... On other news, I've completly destroyed the foam I bought from mayflower lol

I had the same issue and it drove me crazy, but yes, you are supposed to have your ipod on the original os before transferring files. You do not need to use itunes though. There's also nothing wrong with the audio format, rockbox is just buggy like that

Thanks, I think I'll end up sanding the 3d printed cups and following your advice. Only thing I'm iffy about the lacquer I'll be using is the amount of coats and the long curing time in between them. So I think it'll be a process of sanding, applying the urushi lacquer, curing the laquer...

Yeah, I used abs and selected a matte black finish since the fostex cup video had a finish on the cups before the silver leafing was applied. Thanks! I'm actually at home depot rn so this helps out a lot :0

huh, neat. Another question though, if I want to silver leaf it, would I still have to sand down the cups? If so, what grit should I use? Edit: actually, I think I'll look into cnc milling for wood and go from there as there's more information about leafing and urushi on that material instead...

Ah crap, I messed up then with my order from facfox. I didn't know what hollowing was and just selected no on it. Will there be any issues with sound because of that?

I want to say that 5 sheets should be enough to crumple up into flakes, but they're all 109mm x 109mm squares so I'm really not sure if 5 would be too little or too much for one pair Edit: I bought 10

ok, so far I've found what kind of silver leaf they probably use in the process of making the TH-900 from this store https://www.goldleaf.com.au/index.php?route=product/search&search=japanese&description=true&limit=100 I'm just kind of iffy on how much to buy and what color. The smokey blue...
