Mine is a little round, but maybe yours is on the smaller side!  But I do think the issue is the band as it's not a ratchet and depends on the banana hammock to leverage the fit - it just was not a comfortable seal for me. Any way, back to deals. 

I bought the X1 but the clamping force was giving me a headache. I went with the HD598 instead and it was night and day in terms of comfort.   Back to deals: Sennheiser IE80 (Used, very good and excellent) - From $207 - $220.  ...

Thanks for the tip, I went ahead and got them from Amazon. I was deciding between this (Sony dr-zx701ip) and the mdr-7506, but the 3-button control is a nice touch and I think the cable is better suited for my uses. 

I've been seeing the Sony DR-ZX701iP on sale at Amazon for $50. How does it sound when compared with the MDR-V6 or MDR-7506?  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MIIZ3E/   Yes or No? Thoughts? Is it the same as a MDR-ZX700 but with a mic cable?

I actually bought both and although the 558 was better for me (my ears just got tired of the 598) in regards to sound, the 598 was more comfortable. the pads were softer and the band wasn't as stiff as the 558.

I'm still new at this, but I tried both the 558 and the 598. The 598 was so bright that it fatigued my ears. I think at least for me, the 558 is a better option. Comfort-wise, the 598 is nicer and didn't clamp as hard - I think it had something to do with the material they used.

I'm deciding between these two. Comfort is extremely important. Is the 598 edge out in terms of comfort?

  that would be awesome if we just have a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm male adapter with the locking connector. i have a BT receiver i want to velcro to the 598
