    and the grados came...

this is kind of a follow up to the thread i started earlier "grado or no..." where i, being a pretty young audiophile, asked about what headphones would be good to start out with. i ended up ordering the grado SR80s, which i just recieved and am currently trying out. i am more than pleased...

    grado or no....

wow, again thanks for all the input. it's quite invaluble to an ignoramous like myself. i couldn't find the 580s for anything below 150, which would probably be out of my range for now. i've pretty much given up on the idea of getting the kind of headphones i want that will work with a...

    grado or no....

would my computer's sound card (audigy platinum) be sufficient for driving the SR80s? that's primarily what they would be used with. aside from that i'd be using them with an old marantz 2238 occasionaly. would it be better for me to run the sound from the computer through that?

    grado or no....

yeah headroom mentioned that the SR80s are hard to drive, and i don't have a headphone amp, so it wouldn't do me much good to have a pair of headphones i couldn't use very well when i'm on the go. those grado/alessandros looked pretty sweet. has anybody tried them? would they provide the...

    grado or no....

thanks for the feedback. another option is the phillips HP890's. a friend of mine has them and they sound very nice. how would these compare with the V6's? i could get them from www.meier-audio.com for 100 bucks, but i wouldn't want to go to all the trouble of ordering them from germany unless i...

    tremendous climaxes

i second taipeileviathan. barber's adagio is amazing. i also find Gorecki's 3rd to be one of the most emotional peices i've ever heard. that's the tear jerker for me.

What am I missing here? I need more CDs!

i would also suggest adding close to the edge under good albums by YES. also, if houses of the holy wasn't one of the 4 zeppelin cds you bought, i'd say get that immediately. the ocean is just amazing.

    tremendous climaxes

greetings, i'm new here (as you might have guessed from my unipost), just thought i'd add my two cents for this thread. i agree that stairway is truly a monumental song, with a pretty amazing climax, but as far as led zeppelin goes, i really dig "in my time of dying" on physical graffiti...
