Beautiful build Alex. Assuming you've owned both the Crack and S.E.X amps, where does the Mainline rate? I ask as I've built the Crack and the S.E.X. and the S.E.X. is head and shoulders better than the Crack. Curious how you rate the three amps?

I'm no expert there. From what I read when I was researching my purchase, the higher the impedance the better the bass response. That is a distilled down version from my recollection.

It looks like they're using the word premium as a descriptor instead of part of the model name.

Understandable I guess. I looked at the box and it says, "DT-990 Premium Stereo Headphone." The word premium isn't on the headphone itself like the word Pro is on the earcup on the Pro model. It is true the head clamping on the Pros is tighter. I didn't find it uncomfortable though.

I just read the article and all I can say is that was not my experience. My only disagreement is with the comment on sound difference, night and day IMO. To be precise though, my DT-990 Premiums are close to 10 years old while the Pros were one year old. Both were well broken in. Makes me wonder...

Pics don't seem to show any difference other than name. Guitar Center charges an additional $30 for the Pro version without any explanation I can detect. The Studio version I have aren't listed on Beyerdynamic's web site as far as I can tell. 

This is an old thread but I don't feel the question was answered. Possibly, the OP didn't express the question in enough detail in his question. I own a pair of these  with the word "STUDIO" in place of "PRO" like most pics.    I'm wondering if there are any differences?
