I'm going crazy! Can't decide (X2? HE400s? K702? HD650? Any other?)
I'd agree with monsterzero that you don't need a soundstage for the metal. You do need it for classical music. HD650 are said to have small soundstage. Planars have low distortion, are fast, accurate and revealing - youd be able to hear slightest details in the classical recording, plus...- U6astik

Advice on buying a first DAC/Amp combo in 40 - 600 price range (discussion)
I agree that Schiit produces rather nice devices, but yes, I'm not too paranoid about the support. I hope I won't have any problems with the device I buy (sounds too optimistic, yes). But I am taken aback by the degree of Schiit-o-philia on headfi - seems like people are not able to...- U6astik

Any recommendations of headphones within this criteria would be much appreciated!
The bad thing about the K7XX is that you cannot try it before buying. Plus shipping and VAT expenses. Try ATH-MSR7 or HD600/650. There are plenty of HiFi shops around UK - those two popular headphones won't be too hard to find.- U6astik

Buying my first Mid-Fi/Hi-Fi set of cans; care to help me spend too much money? Picking based off sound signature.
Jmurphly, are you able to audiion the headphones? In case you are, I would recommend trying he following closed cans: Oppo PM-3, ATH MSR7, B&W P7, Momenum, Shure SRH1540, Beyerdynamic DT 1770 and Audeze EL-8 (50$ more). The open ones: HD650, Shure SRH1840, Beyerdynamic DT 1770, HE-500 (if...- U6astik

Need a new Dac, Schiit vs JDS Labs, need help in choosing which one !
For you to obtain the information regarding some issues people might be having. I have recently noticed another thread in the Recommendations with anoher person complaining about the Magni-Modi build quality and reliability, so it's worth letting other people know that. The number of...- U6astik

Sennheiser HD 650 + iFi iCan Amp + Macbook Pro = buzz/static noise?
Hello and welcome to the society! :) I'm probably not the best person to talk to regarding this problem, as I don't have any experience with either HD650, or iFi iCAN, but: Do you get the noise when driving HD650 directly from the Mac (without iCAN)? Are your monitors driven by the same...- U6astik

Advice on buying a first DAC/Amp combo in 40 - 600 price range (discussion)
In case Asgard 2 and Modi 2 get such favourable reviews I personally see no point in purchasing Jotunheim, the only advantage of it being balanced. If Asgard and Modi are as neutral as Jotunheim I will go for Modi+Magni or Bifrost+Asgard in case I go for Schiit combo. UPD: Although...- U6astik

Nope, thanks. Hate that. MLGrado, do you have any experience with other similarly priced combos/DACs? Would for example the iDSD Micro be on par with similarly-priced Asus Essence One? I understand this device could be a bargain at its price, but I am suspicious of its small size...- U6astik

Advice on buying a first DAC/Amp combo in 40 - 600 price range (discussion)
I hope it has. God, so many ways to go and so many chances to make a wrong decision! Despite the fact that I would like to own such pretty tube amp, I am not likely to buy it before I have a proper solid-state. All that tube rolling is fun, no doubt, but I've never heard a tube...- U6astik

Trying to decide on what headphones to get?
I'd say get the 500-s if you can. The are discontinued and hence there are not many of them left on the market. The bass is well extended indeed.- U6astik

Advice on buying a first DAC/Amp combo in 40 - 600 price range (discussion)
Okay, now it makes some sense. For the UK the prices are £385 and £485 for Jotunheim . Although I am concerned about the Jotunheim DAC inputs - seems it only has USB input, is that correct? Mojo is not for me I guess. It only offers a 3.5 mm jack. A very neutral amp is indeed what I...- U6astik
