"Mad Dog" by MrSpeakers, modified Fostex T50RP review

To be honest, it's hard for me to find satisfaction from listening to other headphones after I own the MD. I did find a lot of good sounding headphones, maybe even better than the MD, but I didn't get the same level of wow factor like I did the first time I listen to the MD. They didn't make me...

"Mad Dog" by MrSpeakers, modified Fostex T50RP review

I've tried a friend's custom magnum v4. It's a different beast from the Mad Dog. The sound was big and more suited for EDM. I think it is a complimentary to the Mad Dog.

Quote:   IMHO, it's a good pairing with the MD. Though I think the Rx Mk3 needs some kind of burn in time to sound best. The first time I tried it with the MD was harsh. After a couple of weeks, I tried it again and the sound was good. Also if you have the chance, try pairing with a...

Quote: The 1R is probably going to be better for portable use if size is a concern. I use my MD for portable too, though.

Funny. My MD sounded best with an old Sansui receiver with an MS2+ DAC. I doubt an old receiver will cost much.

OP, just take it easy and start with the much cost friendlier ones. Once you have a steady income, you can always upgrade later.           So my recommendation changed to a Senn HD202

Quote: Yes. The M-100, from reading through many impressions, are more suited for EDM. For a broader genre of music, the 1R is better.

    Hearing Loss

While I don't have the tools to measure how loud my headphone sounded, I rely on my hearings and of people around me. I set the initial listening volume and put my headphone on the table. If it sounds like a set of small speakers, then it's too loud and I lower the volume. I know it's not...

I think your ears will adjust to lower volume listening once you change your listening habit. I know mine did.

Yes, but for people with a strict budget (like me), the MD gave a very good value.

I'm guessing any of the MD wouldn't fit in for people who enjoys open and extended treble or listens to relatively neutral music. My guess is based on a few friends who I'd describe as above, and all of them said both MDs are too dark for their taste.

I took my Sansui amp to the local store. We paired it with an MS2+. The source was from a laptop and the headphone was the MD. The consensus this afternoon was that they all synergize beautifully. Other amp pairing with the MD that received good impressions are the MK3-B, the Portaphile 627 (if...

I'm planning to go to a local headphone store who carries Mad Dog this afternoon if the weather is friendly. There were floods in several areas in Jakarta, so traffic is kinda hell in the last couple of days. They also have a Shure pads MD (not for sale though). I'm hoping to be able to demo...
