Yeah, one reason there's a shortage across the country is the low rate of qualification. If a class of 20 begin basic training, I'd expect less than 5 to reach qualification. It's a tough job to do, it's even tougher to learn.- Velomane

Only somewhat. I work a lot of overtime in part to ensure we have staffing, but it's hard to resist double time. The Canada Labour Code limits the number of hours an individual can work (not just ATC, any federally regulated worker). Navcanada, my employer, has an additional fatigue management...- Velomane

Yes, the blu tack mod is supposed to seal up the enclosure to tighten up the bass response. It's been a while, but I seem to recall it was effective. Agreed, the 007 are quite comfy. As for the X9000, hopefully I can bring all my estat gear to the next meet and you guys can decide for...- Velomane

Should we be bringing drop sheets too? Might help contain the gore of what may be an unconventional meet.- Velomane

No joy on the cable. As for frankfurters, they've always been expensive. Those and the Hebrew National ones. I just happen to like them tremendously.- Velomane

Hmmm, I'm surprised. I've heard good things about the Nokian non-studded winter tires. Did the traction suck?- Velomane

I think I'll pop in there Monday to see what's left. On another topic, last winter was the worst I've experienced in over twenty years of commuting to St. Andrews Airport, so I'm thinking of getting studded tires for my car. Anyone here have any experience/comments on this?- Velomane

In terms of price and/or quality, quite a bit. There is burr size and type and speed of the grind, which apparently can be tasted in the cup. Workflow considerations too. My current grinder does "grind by weight". I stick in the portafilter, the grinder recognizes it and grinds a preprogrammed...- Velomane

Stax SR-X9000
Channel imbalance on my X9000. Sent them back and three months later I received a new pair. My dealer was surprised by this. Maybe a bad batch went out and this was Stax's way of fixing it.- Velomane

The Stax Thread III
Received my replacement pair last Monday. My dealer seemed surprised they didn't simply repair the broken pair. Maybe this is Stax's tacit admission that there was a production problem. Thoughts?- Velomane

Stax SR-X9000
I've got a DIY T2. My 009S and 007's have been flawless, so I don't think my X9000 imbalance has anything to do with the amp. In fact, I took out my 007's when I thought the X9000's were off. I thought I was going crazy when I first noticed the problem. Nope, it's the headphones.- Velomane

Goddammit! Just put on my X9000's and there's a channel imbalance. Received these the first week of December. Shorted the pins: no joy. I'll try the other cable tomorrow. Meahwhile, I get to rediscover my SR-007's.- Velomane
