    DIY Cable Gallery!!

Good luck.   Sometimes i even stretch my 1/4" to 1/2" size to go over connectors like mini XLR's, because once they shrink, boy are they tight.

Quote: Just 1 paracord, or 4 in a litz braid?   If 4, then use 3:1 either 3/8" or you can stretch out a 1/4" with a small clamp tool. If you do not have adhesive lined, just put some hot glue. When heating it up it might slide due to the hot glue, just try and hold it, the second...

Not to mention it's heavy and will put strain on the wire

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.

Are there any electrolytic capacitors in the line signal on the Gungnir or Mjolnir?   Planning to change them to Elna Silmic II's and change out the XLR Ports with Cardas Rhodium/Gold. The red organic capacitor Nichicon FP is good, so there's no point in changing out those.   Tim

Navship wire only bends and stay bent. It doesn't "Flex", thus it's not Flexible. They should only sell silver plated or tin plated wire.   For headphone uses, the gauge size i'd ever use from them is 26. Otherwise, anything else would be 24, but mainly for cheap good value...

Quote: Here you are big BOY! http://www.diyaudioblog.com/2012/11/pure-silver-mini-to-mini-cable.html   Depends on purity, but most SPOFC should have at least 4N (99.99%) purity for both the copper and silver plating. It's only for OCC where you should worry, especially for it's OCC...

Asus Essence One Headphone Amp/DAC (CeBIT 2011)

Quote: 8W of power! muahaha!   I have to cut off my single end 1/4" off my 8 wire cable and re-terminate it with either one 4-pin or two 3 pins. Probably going to go with a 4 pin route, as it's most likely lighter. I wanted the Valab Rhodium ones, but they probably don't make those...

My budget is $1000 for an amplifier.   Mjolnir is around that price, so it's a good choice, unless i can find something better suited for under $1200. Mainly interested in using it's balance headphone output. I've used 1/4" all my life, and am curious if the XLR's would have a quieter...

Quote: I borrow this LYR from time to time. It didn't make the LCD-3 sound stellar or anything, so i'd guess that it's the amp.   I'll see if i can get something more high end. At least a Mjolnir or Conductor.

I doubt the an LCD-4 would blow the 3 out of the water, unless it has some kind of new technology.   To me, the 3 barely beats the 2.2, and i'm listening on a LYR right now. Has substantial gains in some categories, while others is just subtle.   IMO, i could only see it at a...

Darn you Preproman, haha!   I am listening to my new LCD-3's as of the moment, and what i can say, the first improvement i notice was the treble. It was what i wanted to improve on the LCD-2, and oh boy, this as brought me to nirvana.   Base has a tighter tone extension on it, which is...

It sounded veiled to me (HD-800), must be due to my amplifier. Just like now, i was't ready to upgrade the system, so i had to let them go. The comfort, sound stage, air, and detail was what made me heavily reconsider. I thank everyone for recommending me to grab the deal on the LCD-3's. That...
