Hey, I hope I'm not too late but If the meet is small enough we can have it at my apartment, I already have two tables and have a nice open living room.

What kind of a place are you looking for in gainesville? I've never been  to a meet so I don't know how these things usually go.

Quote: Nice, I'm looking forward to the meet then. I've also seen a bunch of M50s and an sr325i or two around so I'm sure there are at least a couple of head-fiers or friends of head-fiers around.

    Fighters anyone?

Quote: Well, I do agree that League of Legends and WoW have shallow learning curves but I wouldn't call them the most  accessible as they do require knowing a lot about the game to be good at them, they are just maybe not as difficult to understand or technically intensive as starcraft or...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote: I only have flac playing through audirvana on my desktop through osx into a usb matrix m-stage at the 0 db gain setting (tried all of them) with the volume knob turned up about half-way connected to the he400. It seems to happen with a lot of songs that have the same notes, It...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Hmm, I've been listening to these for a while and found that on certain mid-bass notes the headphone has a mild rattling noise in the right ear with some distortion. Have any of you ever heard of this problem before? Do I have a faulty right driver? It doesn't happen all the time, just on songs...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote: I just got them and have been listening for about 2 hours and they sound really good on the m-stage. So much instrument seperation and detail that you can get lost following one instrument and forget what part of the song you are in. I have no better way to describe how this combo...

    HE-400 Review- planx

Thanks, I hope these don't go through the same transformation period I had with the k701. I'm really liking these right now, I hope the sound only gets better. I don't like to have an opinion on burn-in because while it could be all in your head, when I had my k701s I really noticed a sharp...

    HE-400 Review- planx

How long are you guys burning these in for? I just got my pair right now and while they sound very good, I'm wondering if burn-in is relevant for planar magnetic headphones.

how do you do this? did you cut the mesh out yourself?

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Oh I see, I'm going to check that out. I have the usb version and I went from onboard sound and having my sansa clip+ being my main source to the m-stage and it was such a big difference. I don't think I'm going to upgrade my amp for a while unless I want something for speakers. I'm sorry to...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote:   Thanks, that's kinda what I wanna hear. Idk how much time you spent with the 70xs but I really enjoyed them out of the matrix the rare times I actually felt like listening to them. First impressions were amazing but it wore off quickly and I think it had to do with how cold the...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote: Thanks, I'll take a look at it when they get here on monday. I also have to ask, are these really as good as this thread makes them sound? I had traded my 701s for k550s and was pretty disappointed so I sold them and now I'm getting the he400s. I know for sure they'll sound better...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I just ordered some from moon audio and they sent me velours for free. Do any of you know what revision they have? also have you guys had experience using the he400s with a matrix m-stage?

Flat response for less than $100?

I agree with the v6 or mdr7506 suggestion. Probably the best bang for your buck cans and they are pretty flat with some eq, the freq response graph for these is very well known and it's really easy to get a flat sound with some eq.

    post your grado mods....

What kind of new cups did you get? I've been trying to hunt down wooden cups and they are always either more expensive than the headphones i want them for(sr225, not i) or sold out. Is there any alternative cups? I kinda mangled mine when trying to install one of those tiny inputs so I could...

Headphones for a friend who plays acoustic guitar

I've used akg k701, k550, ultrasone hfi580, sony mdr 7506 and grado sr225(can't use to record if instrument needs to be micd like an acoustic guitar) to record and mix music and I have to say that the one that makes the mix sound the best is always the 7506 despite the price disparity with most...

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!

I really did like them for a closed headphone but I just felt like for on the go they were too big, and for at home use I chose my cheap m-audio monitors over them. I ended up selling them to get he400s. I really wanted to have them be my main headphones too, IMO they are the nicest looking...

Looking for very good SQ, high battery life, not Apple

Quote: Well, I know these sorts of arguments are not taken very well in this forum but objectively, from an engineer's point of view, the clip has the flattest frequency response curve and an almost ideal 1 ohm output impedance(an ideal operational amplifier has zero output impedance)...

Looking for very good SQ, high battery life, not Apple

Cowons definitely color the sound a little but they do it in a good way. I had an s9 and enjoyed it with my sr225s because of the great equalizer. However, I honestly think that a sansa clip+ with rockbox sounds better than the s9 or any cowon player I've tried(s9 and older). The battery life is...

recommend Audiophile Headphones comfortable with glasses/ virtual surround sound

Open headphones usually don't give much of a problem when wearing glasses. Closed headphones though, can't get a good seal unless you take them off. I'd get some sort of open headphones like hd600s or 598s. Your mic will pick up noise from the headphones but it may be bearable if you listen at...

    The discovery thread!

Quote: ehh I have to agree with eke2k6 when I started trying to upgrade my headphones the m6 were the ones I bought first and i didn't find them to be a big upgrade to any of the cheap earbuds I had been previously using.
