Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
My initial thought is that remembering to when I got my t50rp I was much more blown away thrilled with the sound of the Fostex than I am with the 1060. In fact I was rather let down and unimpressed. I love the flat curve but the soundstage is terrible, all instruments are strong left or right...- ebann

correct, its not an ideal combo. You get a bigger soundstage for sure but the bass doesn't extend as far and the mid highs distort a bit more. Get the bottlehead anyway and grab some hd650's Thats a really lively combo.- ebann

HAHAH. you know the names are derived from the driver size? M1061 would be more logical. guess your too busy whining and writing long winded emails to customer service reps that are just going to ignore the text and click the refund button :) wahtever makes you feel better though.- ebann

its not cnc. look at the back, the holes are stamped then the front grinded to give a machined look. Kinda clever.- ebann

ugh, dont do this please :) Just covering the backs with my hands turns these to beats. bassy, flat mids and even duller highs. Get closed cans. These arent bad for letting sound in, but if its leaking sound out your concerned with they are loud.- ebann

they are open so isolation sucks. With no music I hear almost no difference on or off beside a teeny bit muffling of my own voice. That said, with the music on at a reasonable level its not that big of a deal even though I can hear my typing and sniffling. Busy electronic music drowns out...- ebann

Day 2: I ran these through my Bottlehead Crack instead of my solid state amp last night and was really pleased with how much better they sound. Big and full with deep bass and more present highs. Headspace is larger however these cans have a strong left/right center presentation and imaging...- ebann

OK, luckily someone already posted some rough photos of a teardown so I dont need to ;) Impressions: Build quality is pretty decent. Not flimsy. Wood finish is just ok. Part was not sanded fine enough so its kind of rough. Metal is laser cut and unfinished on the edges so they are a...- ebann

1. Really comfortable! More so than my HD600's The fake leather is super soft and they are light. 2. Pads are removable, just peel off the glue ;)\ 3. Build seems solid. I think the 560 were a little better though. left connector cuts out so these are defective.- ebann

Yes! On acoustic instruments they were really good. If you dont need the sealed cans I would go with the 1060's. I sent these back and grabbed a few other cans to play with in the interim.- ebann
