FEARLESS Audio IEM's Discussion/Impressions
Apparently the electrostatic drivers are very power hungry and were not tuned properly. I was very upset hearing the Roland initially but it's one of my favorites now after proper equalization.- Bjrmd

FEARLESS Audio IEM's Discussion/Impressions
Here is my Neutron filter for the Roland. It's based on normalizing the output to match my se846 using minidsp ears for the measurements: ../Music" bind="9" lock="0" preamp="-5"> <band type="PEAKEQ" gain="-2" freq="300" Q="2" /> <band type="HIGHSHELF" gain="3" freq="5500"...- Bjrmd

I'm using a Fearless Roland. It has no background hiss with any of my Dacs including ibasso dc02, Apple and dragonfly red or Cobalt. What is the output impedance? Could that be the problem?- Bjrmd

A brief feedback on the new firmware for the Bluetooth dongle: Install process was fine on a Win 10 PC. Unfortunately, the background hiss/noise is no different (and awful). It does not matter what codec you use and I'm now concerned it's a hardware/design issue. I'm going back to wired and...- Bjrmd

Exo Series Custom Bluetooth Cable (Copper (Type 6 Litz)) It has the new bluetooth module. The hiss is present with aptx or LDAC. Very annoying - went back to wired until they come up with a fix- Bjrmd

I have the new plussound BT dongle with the Roland. It won't change the sound except it introduces a fair amount of background hiss. I'm hoping they fix that soon. On the other hand, just add some equalizer boost to the high end and you will like it much better. The special tweeters must be...- Bjrmd

True Wireless Earphones with LDAC?
You can try the Shure BT2 aptx hd adapter. I did a ldac vs aptx hd comparison and they seem equivalent. The Shure unit is top notch but you would need mmcx connectors. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78863458&postcount=293- Bjrmd

It has a microphone. I have no issues with dropouts (pixel 3xl using aptx hd). Great device!- Bjrmd

Introducing CL2 Planar (Impressions Thread)
I am aware of some of the criticism of the Ears testing rig. But, the Shure se846 tracing I get is very similar to that of Goldenears published data. I've also tested the Oriolus, akg n5005, and that 4k spike isn't there. I like the Rha quite a bit, but personally cut that area back about 5 db...- Bjrmd

New Shure RMCE-BT2 (tested with SE535)
I just got through testing them compared to the ME BT apt x and wired Test chain is a Pixel 2XL to the EARS: FR: Since the SE846 is so picky with source impedance, the Shure dongle must be quite low The red is wired (dragonfly red) Distortion/noise: The Shure with se846: VS ME BT (plain...- Bjrmd

Introducing CL2 Planar (Impressions Thread)
Long term break in effect? This is a frequency response graph using the EARS platform (Pixel 2XL, apple USBC DAC now/Google DAC initially) of when I first received them and yesterday. The bass response is enhanced after time, but it could of course been positional/seal change as well. For...- Bjrmd

RHA announcing CL2 Planar in-ear headphone
One more comment, my SPL measurements show about 115 dB/ V sensitivity which is higher than the official spec's read. You should do fine driving this with most DAC dongles and smartphones.- Bjrmd

RHA announcing CL2 Planar in-ear headphone
It's not like the se846 (at 20-30 hz). But size is small, isolation is as good as the Shure and sound should appeal to most.- Bjrmd

RHA announcing CL2 Planar in-ear headphone
A few more measurements: This is the bluetooth dongle FR and a couple of equalization filters (Neutron player on a Pixel 2, aptx): The Freq response is identical to the wired. Crosstalk and distortion with bluetooth: Near zero crosstalk (the Mee BT adapter is the same). Distortion...- Bjrmd

RHA announcing CL2 Planar in-ear headphone
Just got them, FR graph for anyone interested. I checked multiple times, different insertions, L/R and the curves are about the same. Compared to my SE846 (several tests). Using the EARS head simulator, Dragonfly Red and a Toshiba laptop. The closed back Shure IEM needs a -7 dB cut around 7.5...- Bjrmd

AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005
As noted by many the supplied tips don't sound very well. In fact the frequency response curves were so horrible looking I thought my gear wasn't working. I am currently using comply 500 isolation and the above measurements were done with them. It makes one wonder what their research and...- Bjrmd

AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005
Some followup on the Bluetooth adapter with respect to crosstalk (not something generally looked at). I was lazy and did not compare the AKG on off the BT dongle but I used my Oriolus which has a similar impedance/transducer combo. Here is the Oriolus (Neutron player on a Pixel 2, opposite...- Bjrmd

AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005
That 5 khz dip was not present in the test of the se846. In addition it was the same when I tested the sbc codec. The new pixel is able to run aptx, aptx HD, aac, ldac as well as 16,24,32 bit, 44.1,48 khz sample rates. I tried them all but was only able to get 16/44.1 or 48 to work on sbc or...- Bjrmd

AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005
I looked at aptx vs wired (and SBC) in regards to FR, distortion. Here is the aptx with the Bass filter compared to the wired Google Dac running from my Pixel 2: There is a strange 5 K notch, but otherwise it is very close to wired. Distortion was also close: Wired: aptx: I also took...- Bjrmd
