Mine will power off if there's no connection to the phone

Apparently the electrostatic drivers are very power hungry and were not tuned properly. I was very upset hearing the Roland initially but it's one of my favorites now after proper equalization.

I agree completely. For a company claiming high end audio, this is a total failure.

I'm using a Fearless Roland. It has no background hiss with any of my Dacs including ibasso dc02, Apple and dragonfly red or Cobalt. What is the output impedance? Could that be the problem?

It has a microphone. I have no issues with dropouts (pixel 3xl using aptx hd). Great device!

One more comment, my SPL measurements show about 115 dB/ V sensitivity which is higher than the official spec's read. You should do fine driving this with most DAC dongles and smartphones.

It's not like the se846 (at 20-30 hz). But size is small, isolation is as good as the Shure and sound should appeal to most.
