1) It came preloaded with 2.1 when I bought it. 2) It's a laptop and I tried all ports. 3) Yes I did. 

I'm running a Win7 64 bit and the X3 (FW 2.1) does not even get recognized. The settings on the player are set to DAC. What am I doing wrong?

I did bite the bullet and bought an X3 and I'm glad I did. It is a nice DAC and a better player than classic, imho. Although I have a E7 it is dying on me so the X3 would be a good replacement. I agree with your review about UI and is really cumbersome to navigate. What I absolutely don't like...

Well...after a bit of use I concur on most of the points mentioned on this thread. The interface sucks...lol. I have to look online for most of the things I need to do e.g.creating playlists. Nothing much you can do in terms of EQ as far as I have seen, just bass and treble. Definitely needs...

They look like on ear. I don't mind trying these...What I want to know is how comfortable are these? Are they good for long listening, walking sessions? Also..how about microphonics?
