Yes... for a while. But the voices inside your head (or on your shoulders?) are constantly whispering dark thoughts to you. Go back... they have new headphones... spend more... muahahahaha! :smiling_imp: I'm glad that you're getting a lot of mileage out of your M-100s! The sound is clearly...

Late reply here, but they are fundamentally different in both sound and performance. If you like the sound of one, you'd probably steer away from the other. That's how distinct they are on the sound spectrum, IMO. What are you looking for - if you don't mind my asking - from a tonality...

Haha, sorry folks, life has taken a hold on me, and I've just been rather busy (and lazy) to get onto the forums. How's everyone doing? Believe it or not, I miss the banter, so yeah, let's hope I don't get too lazy to click on "Head-Fi Forums" on my browser the next day. ;) On the topic of...

Try a Focal, maybe? The Radiance might be a good fit.; it certainly eschews the treble intensity that the AH-D9200 is quite notorious for. I second @AudioDuck's suggestion, too - the ZMF Atticus is a great choice. They are both warm and full-bodied, with delicious texture in the lows.

You know what? I completely forgot that CanJam is happening this weekend; I actually thought - mistakenly so - that the exhibition was to be held on the following weekend (Apr 9-10)! I already have something planned for the whole of Saturday and the first-half of Sunday. If I'm able to drop by...

    Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

Here's a comparative review of the AH-D9200 with the TH900 Mk2, with 2 other headphones thrown into the mix. TLDR - These 2 headphones are cut from the same piece of cloth. With that said, if you prefer a more exciting, bass-focused sound, the Fostex should be your number 1 pick. If you want...

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

If the Eikon is discontinued, will a successor show up in its place? The release of the Atrium bodes well for a new closed-back flagship; the Atrium Closed, perhaps? (DUH...) However,. that leaves the Atticus as the sole sub-$1,000 dollar product in its closed catalog. Too many cooks spoil the...

By the way, I know this isn't a closed-back, but knowing the folks at ZMF (paging you, @zach915m), a closed version of the Atrium can't be too far behind, right? ;) To be honest, I was aiming for the Stellia, but, a new closed flagship from ZMF on the horizon makes for a highly-compelling...

I just want an Atrium Closed. 😎 Congrats, @zach915m, on the launch of your new headphone. It's pretty as heck - a ZMF forte, of course. 🙂

Yeah, I was taken aback when I auditioned the new T5 for the very first time. I was expecting a (slightly) reined-in version of the T5p (2nd Gen), with a modest boost in overall technical performance. Thus, imagine my surprise when I heard the headphone in its current incarnation - the heavy...

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

@omega1990 @Dawgfish @Pharmaboy Thanks for the info, my friends! My first contact with ZMF was through the Vérité Closed, and it came with the updated rod assembly; thus, I've never known of the original design. TIL. :) The old rod looks sleek and clean; however, my preference for the current...

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

Personally, it has always been a different experience using IEMs vis-à-vis headphones. IEMs are brilliant in their own way, and they are certainly the portable champs in the audiophile realm. With that being said, headphones provide a visceral response that you don't always get with earphones...

The T5 is a unique proposition on the current market - despite the asking price, it is unabashed in its quest to provide a sinful, bass-heavy, and utterly-dark sound. It's not the first name that comes to mind when you think of an "audiophile headphone", but it definitely stands apart form the...

At that price range, some of the best options would include the Shure SRH1540 and the E-MU Teak. Neither are dark headphones, but as you've mentioned, you can always use EQ to attenuate the treble response. Both of these headphones are fairly engaging, with good resolving capabilities...

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

That's an interesting rod assembly on your Atticus. Is that a 3rd party set? I'd agree with all of the recent comments on the low-end capabilities of the Atticus - the bass texture and slam is rather impressive. For lack of a better term, the appropriate word I'd use to describe the lows on the...

Yeah, I like the manner in which Focal markets its products - they don't flood the contemporary marketplace with too many options, and each product bears a distinctive name. Frankly, and this is a segue of sorts - I don't understand why the Japanese brands can't simply think of elegant or distinctive "1-word" names for their flagship headphones. Look at the likes of Sony, Fostex, Denon, Audio-Technica, Final Audio, and STAX. Most (or all) of the names of their...

I agree; Audio-Technica suffers from a principal issue, something that most large (audio) companies are similarly guilty of - they tend to introduce large swathes of products into the market. It is, indeed, quite difficult to keep up with the likes of Audio-Technica, Sony, and Sennheiser...
