Monoprice SonicSolace ANC Bluetooth Headphones - Anybody tried them?
I ended up getting some. They fit fine, ANC seems seems pretty good, main complaint is that the headband is a bit uncomfortable. Probably keeping them though, since I read you have to step up to the Bose or Sony's to get noticeably better ANC, and those are ~$300.- JustJohn

Smallish bookshelf (no stands) vs ProMedia
Cool. From the review I linked it seemed like actual height was key. I appreciate the scientific explanation. Wedges are less offending on all three fronts (space, stability, aesthetics) so I would consider those.- JustJohn

Smallish bookshelf (no stands) vs ProMedia
So you think they will sound better than $100 bookshelf speakers? Is it because I don't intend to put them on stands, or are you just saying the ProMedia is a safe choice?- JustJohn

Smallish bookshelf (no stands) vs ProMedia
Background info if you care: I have been using a pair of Klipsch B-2 bookshelf speakers with a Topping amp/DAC, but moved those to the TV where I think they are better suited. They are a little too big for my desk and I felt like the sound was going past me a bit. Main question: What is going...- JustJohn

Optical out -> ??? -> B-20
After doing a little more research I am thinking it may be better to avoid getting a sound card for my build at the end of the year. That means I'm now leaning toward an all in one solution. Two more questions: Does optical vs usb in matter for the DAC? Optical is more convenient for me...- JustJohn

Optical out -> ??? -> B-20
Ok cool. Makes sense. I am also doing a new build within the next 9 months and will try to put a good sound card in it so I will have decent analog out. At that point I would only need the amp, so maybe I do want separate ones even if it's clunkier at the moment.- JustJohn

Optical out -> ??? -> B-20
Thanks for the advice. Any particular reason you recommend getting separate DAC and amp? Is it just because both in one is hard to find cheap?- JustJohn

Replacement for icemat Siberia, $40-100 range, no amp, gaming/music
Found some mint condition 558s on ebay for $77 with mic, and since I needed a mic anyway that puts them essentially at the 518 sale price. Went with that. However, I'm curious why I didn't get any answers. Too many options I was considering? Too long a post? Other?- JustJohn

Replacement for icemat Siberia, $40-100 range, no amp, gaming/music
Hey guys, I'm looking to replace some old icemat Siberias that I liked a lot. Looking to replace them with identical or better sound quality/comfort and a little more solid construction. I take good care of my headphones but one of those flimsy crossbars broke on me eventually. This will...- JustJohn

Fuze+ alternatives? (Something for running, must play video as well)
Hi, I have a little sister who wants a media player small enough to be convenient for running but can play videos as well. -Does not need to be audiophile quality. -Price could go up to $200 but looking for the most for the money. First thing that popped up was the Fuze+ but...- JustJohn

Winamp or Media Monkey?
I've test driven a bunch of programs and my impressions are as follows: EAC is best for ripping, though all the options can be a bit overwhelming at first Media Monkey is best for organizing Foobar2000 is the best pure player (Highly recommend the CD Art Display plugin with...- JustJohn

MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
Wow, lots of info, thanks. Read it through a couple times. Now I really like the idea of snagging a pair of the Klipsch and being able to use them as part of a pretty decent setup later on. However, I don't see them for anywhere near $100, which kind of puts them out of reach. That...- JustJohn

MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
Decided to do some craigslist searching. Found KEF 55 and Polk Model 4 monitor series both asking $50. Pretty clueless about the speaker world. Can anyone tell me if either of those would be significantly better than the two sets mentioned earlier in the thread?- JustJohn

MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
Thanks for the further input, that's exactly why I want to make sure I can adjust the crossover. I find the crossover way too high on most 2.1 setups. You get that ridiculously over-pronounced upper bass that makes everything sound like crap. No clue why they come set up that way. I felt like...- JustJohn

MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
I'm using an xfi platinum sound card but it doesn't have active amplification to my knowledge. Yes I got the promedias for $100. I don't know that much about the physics of speaker systems (yet) but it doesn't follow to me that improving amplification would make the sub less boomy. Bass...- JustJohn

MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
Alright, good stuff. That video makes it look ridiculously easy to set stuff up. The only thing I don't get is where would the sub connect? And what about tuning the crossover? Also I don't know what a foam port plug or a bass trap even is. I'll do some research and get back to you on that...- JustJohn

MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
Awesome, thanks! Leads me to a whole new set of questions though. :P Have you heard the promedia 2.1 system? The satellites seem awfully good to me. You're sure the $40 sony's would be better? I am interested in doing something like that though. The only thing is, I'm not sure I know...- JustJohn

2.1 Speakers for Xmas
You can see my thoughts on a couple of the more popular "high end" computer speakers here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/584176/mv40s-for-computer-speakers-promedia-2-1-and-z2300-discussed High end in quotes because high end computer speakers don't exist. MV40s for computer speakers? (Promedia 2.1 and Z2300 discussed)
Just got a set of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s even though I had a set of Logitech Z2300s cause I had always been curious about the ProMedias and they were on sale and I had BestBuy credit to burn. After listening to them both side by side I realized I want something slightly different than both...- JustJohn
