    Cowon J3 Impressions Thread

My J3 is still going strong 5 years after I bought it. I still use it everyday, good enough for my on-the-go listening needs. I use it mainly for my IEMs. I don't use it for headphones though.   The Plenue D is a little more resolving, and can play 24/96 files. The A35 has a warmer and more...

Any recommended online store where I can acquire a Forsteni? MusicaAcoustics currently don't have it on stock. :(

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

TWSBI Eco was available for only 2 days here in Manila - all stocks, probably about two dozens or so, were quickly bought by pen enthusiasts. I'm still waiting for new stocks to arrive, which is still indefinite as of this time.

    Anyone from the Philippines here?

Egghead Audiohub in Robinsons Galleria, ground floor, near Watsons. They also have a Facebook page.   Listening Room in Megamall, 4th floor, is good too. Both stores usually carry the same brands, but Listening Room also has home theater stuff if you're into it. But Egghead's prices can be...

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

Most probably it isn't legit. Not a lot of product info, Contact detail is just an email address. Any way I look it seems bogus.

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

Thanks. I'll do that when my current cartridge runs out of ink. I'm planning on switching to black ink anyway (currently using Lamy's default blue cartridge) so I'll have to flush the pen before putting in the new ink.       I've just done some testing to see what might be wrong, I'm now...

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

Thanks. The Safari looks really unassuming but classy in charcoal, that's why I chose that color. ;)   My minor gripe though is that it seems to skip often. At first I though maybe it's because I'm used to writing a bit fast, but it did skip even when I'm writing slowly. I did some research...

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

I just bought my very first fountain pen today: a Lamy Safari, charcoal color, with a Fine nib and blue cartridge. Cost about 32 dollars, including an extra black cartridge and a converter.   I was actually surprised it worked well with my Moleskine notebook. I've always known about the...

Andito ba yung mga umorder sa FlipEars? Balita ko yung sa isa parating na ah. Sunday yata makukuha.   Anyway just curious if they will be posting about FlipEars here at Head-fi. It might create some interest on our local CIEMs, and I'm not sure if Mr. Sales and his company is prepared with...

    K701 thread

I think both the 701 and 702 at Amazon are made in China. Also the new 701's have no headbumps, or whatever they're called.

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

Currently using K701 + M-stage HPA-1 with LM4562NA opamp   I didn't really expect to get some 'wow' factor from this amp the first time I listened to it. Well it certainly doesn't make me go "OMG DELICIOUS SOUND BEST AMP EVAR", but rather, in my first few songs I was like "uhm.. okay. it's...

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

I use Westone silicone tips with my 535. That's what I use with my UM1, and get great comfort and isolation using it. As a bonus, it smoothens the treble, which I find to be hot with the stock Shure tips.

    Superlux Express Train

Yeah that's what I'm doing right now. It's gotten somehow more tolerable now, though it still clamps far harder than any other headphone I've ever used.

    Superlux Express Train

(Pardon the not-s-good picture, it's quite dark in here, and my phone's camera sucks lol)   Just out of the box, it's somewhat V-shaped, with the midbass being very powerful, but without sounding too dark. What really hooked me was the amount of detail present in these headphones...

Test your ears! How well can you hear audio quality?

But 'midcentric' i mean something that brings out the midrange more than the highs or bass. Kinda like the RSA Mustang.   Thanks for the description of the M-stage. It's currently my top priority, but there might be some other good choices within the price range. Because the Mustang is too...

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

Since getting the SE535 in April my Westone UM1 has been getting less listening time from me hehe.   Kinda expected since not only in SE535 obviously far better, but the Shure is my very first top-tier IEM, and the jump from 1 to 3 BA was a really big leap in my audiophile experience. So much...

    K701 thread

What's the best midcentric amp for the 701 within a 200-230 dollar budget?   I'm actually thinking of getting M-stage, I've done some research already and read stuff in the amp's thread, but so far haven't gotten a good description of what its mids are like with the K701.

The Headphiles group is just a group of fellow audio enthusiasts. We discuss audio stuff and sometimes organize meets.   If you're looking for audio items on sale, well we do have a 'marketplace', but it's all our pre-owned stuff, no brand new ones.

Best listening experience you ever had?

My first real audiophile experience was with the K701 + D-zero. I already have the Cowon J3 back then (actually I just got it 2 weeks prior). That was January 2012. That was when I fell in love with the 701, and with this hobby in general.   But so far the best audiophile experience I had was...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Linkin Park's newest single, released less than 24 hours ago.   Headphones: K701 Amp: C&C X02     This song made me notice something: without the X02, the instruments are all crammed together, each barely distinguishable to one another. But with the amp, I can clearly discern which...
