Sad news from Zuni Pueblo that Jeff Tsalabutie, one of the most talented artists of the carvers there, died this week following a road accident. Jeff had a wonderfully lively and beautifully graceful carving style that was appreciated the world over. Along with Gibbs Othole, Dee Edaakie and...- steviebee

Another damned washing machine thread
So my lovely wife washes my Shuffle (40deg 1200 spin). Comes to me this afternoon holding this drenched little orange box up, saying 'what's this? Found it in the machine'... Dammit, how was I to know she'd wash those jeans? They weren't even in the laundry basket. Sigh. Currently air-drying...- steviebee

Flying to Barcelona: airport security advice pls
I know lots of threads probably on this self-same topic, but little time to search. Going to Barcelona -two choices of gear: iRiver H160 + RSA Hornet Nano 3G + Xin Supermini IV In carry-on. Any advice welcome on which will be likely to be less concerning to airport security, if...- steviebee

BeyerHeads, your advice...
I recently bought a pr of DT660, black-cup edition (2007?) and am very impressed. Nice & clear, perhaps a bit bright sometimes, but a good line in non-overpowering bass. And a soundstage that is wonderful out of a closed phone. So BeyerHeads, if, I say if, I was to think of wallet-harming...- steviebee

Linn system resurrection
Just won a Linn Majik-1 integrated amp on Ebay . Don't know how it'll sound vs my old Naim 32/SNAPS/250, but beggars can't be choosers...lol. Next step is to unbox my beloved LP12/Ittok (long in storage), have it serviced, and finally get it all together with my Kans. Back to vinyl. At...- steviebee

Thickie time: FLAC
Not sure this is the right forum (maybe DSC?) but here goes: Because I have a brain the size of a fairly small housefly after a night on the sugar, I just cannot figure out the advantage of using Level 0 for encoding in FLAC rather than, say, Level 8....This arises from a discussion w/ a...- steviebee

Vintage shooters (Genesis/Megadrive etc)?
Anyone a fan of the old-tyme scrolling shooters? Thinking particularly of games like the mighty Zero Wing, Thunderforce series, GAIARES, Gynoug etc... I really need to resurrect my Megadrive to play these again, esp. Zero Wing, and the tactical masterpeice Herzog Zwei- steviebee

Could some kind soul or Ety nut (terms not mutually exclusive!) direct me to the difference, if any, between ER4 'Classic' red & blue and the black edition? I tried searching but only found that it seemed to change sometime in 07... Thx!- steviebee

Sansa Clip - built to last?
Hi all Just about to pull the trigger (ish) on a Clip. I've read reviews, watched the Youtube stuff, but have one last question... Alongside more day to day use, I'll be taking it mountainbiking, hiking & general offroad jollies, so what's the build-quality like? Not having seen one on the...- steviebee

Dumb question re olives
Dumb question I know, but I've just started using Shure olives. Do you compress before insertion or just put them in whole? I'd been scrunching them up, but just occurred to me you don't necessarily have to. When I tried it w/out, the seal did not seem affected in any way... So, how do you...- steviebee

Broncos Roll Call!
Any Head Fi support for the Orange & Blue? I've been a long time UK fan ever since seeing No 7 pass waaay downfield back in his second season. Before Elway, all I'd seen were running plays & generally preferred baseball (go Tigers!). And then I was awed by the Three Amigos... Loved the...- steviebee

Xin Supermini 3 upgrade
Having purchased a Supermini 3 from a fellow Head-Fier, could some one tell me how I stand for the refit that that brings it up to near IV standard? (I'm late to the party I know!) ATH CK7 > Ety 6i. Step up?
I'm really liking the sound of my CK7s (detailed, clear top, good bass but not overpowering - in contrast, I find my JBL Ref 220s perhaps a bit too bassy). I've read the CK7s are similar in sound sig to Ety ER6i's, which I've never heard. Would the 6i's be a step up or a step across in terms of...- steviebee

Yoko Ono: Yes, I'm a Witch
