Nice review. I think the Z1R will become a classic given enough time. Not MDR-R10 level of course, but nicely built and great sound - a bit too warm sometimes.

Plug headphones into iFi audio GO link for supercharged sound!

Andros have 12.8 Ohms @ 1kHz impedance, all they need is a breeze. Volume level granularity is even a bit annoying on Android by default as the difference between two levels is considerable. Some apps allow increasing granularity tho. Mammoths shouldn't be all that different at 8.1 Ohms @ 1kHz...

Plug headphones into iFi audio GO link for supercharged sound!

Spent about 20min with these, the Andromeda and the Z1R and I think there is great potencial. Had some issues with mobile software initially (Samsung S22U, Android 13, OneUI 5.1) but when I got them well paired the results were surprising. Considering that and the low price, I'll definitely be...

    recommendation amp for mobile phone

Looking into this new budget boy for an S22 Ultra: https://ifi-audio.com/products/go-link/ I have iFi Audio gear and am happy with them in general, but there's a limit given price, expecting no miracles but it should be able to drive my CA Andromeda. Trying to order but if anyone has one...

Plug headphones into iFi audio GO link for supercharged sound!

Hm. ES9219. So, is this any good? Interesting timing. I need a dongle thingy for my phone. (S22 Ultra). Could be a 'shut up and take my money' scenario. (Coincidence... have a Black Label next to me right now still, iFi audio has not disappointed with this one, so... Getting curious 🤔) And...

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

What. Been here for a while and somehow never noticed this thread. Watches. Lots of interesting stuff to look at, regardless of type and cost. I can browse this for hours. One can get attached to any watch and after some time they become special, companions. 🤔 Here's my two most used friends...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Am listening to my Campfire Audio Andromeda right now and just started browsing out of boredom, looking to spend some Sats on "something better" again - Z1R came to mind. Click. Hmm. Z1R less in mind now. Fleetwood Mac still sounding great tho. FM is always a win.

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

Been testing that a bit myself and zero issues while in indoors/fairly quiet environments. I haven't tested it outside, so can't say much - especially with wind, always a challenge. Indoors in quiet environments, zero complaints about the XM4 calls. I give it 5/5. ANC is excellent by the way...

Reply to review by 'beowulf' on item 'Campfire Audio Andromeda 2020'

The original Andromeda ruined Head-Fi a bit for me after all these years. They were simply so good and satisfying I lost that "upgrade urge" that had been lasting for years and years. That's how good these things are. Haven't heard the 2020 but have a hard time imagining they're an improvement...

Well, let's see then. Only one way to know. Pulled wallet. Competition won't be easy or fair, but I'm kinda used to the same comparison flows by now. 🤷‍♂️

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

🤣 At this point many can open a "Tip Shop" I didn't remember I had some unopened SpiralDots, spinfits, comply, misc.... for years. Cheap silicons etc. there's a lot to choose from. Expect no surprises tho. Foamies are usually sucky in fit+comfort and great in isolation and bass and silicone is...

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

Not a popular opinion lately. But that's my experience too. If I go Bluetooth I'm going for podcasts, videos, audiobooks or usually anything where SQ isn't the priority but the comfort of being mobile/wireless is vital. Otherwise there's something better wired, much better (which one depends on...

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

No matter how we look at it, IMO in this age (mid 2021) and price for the class (1st tier BT IEMs) the lack of Multipoint is a failure. They let slide because most of the public still doesn't known what it is and competitors are lagging too. Next year, same game and anyone without MP will be...

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

Couldn't have expressed it better. I can tell you've been around reviews before. 🤣 My main whining point was not subjective tho so I'll stick to that one. No Multipoint support. Some work on the firmware is needed - I doubt Sony will do it, as most of the public is still unaware of the feature.

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

I'm not a mega fan of recent Sony tunings, which lean towards a darker sound, not to mention bass and sub-bass being way more pumped than years ago, but still like them because sometimes you get magic if paired with the right source and content. The MDR-Z1R show that more than any other Sony...

Know what you mean, that does make it a lot less annoying. But in general well implemented Multipoint is super pleasant (for people who are using two sources simultaneously frequently - typically a computer + a phone). The lack of MP and threads I've been reading about glitches (reddit is full...

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

I know that in this corner sound quality is what we value above all, but I'm seriously disappointed that these came out without Bluetooth Multipoint support, considering price and that it's mid-2021 (and that the chipset supports it). No one seems to care about this tho, maybe it's just me...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Comfort with those models can be very subjective. I have some Galaxy Buds Plus I can wear for 10 hours a day of needed without any discomfort and barely feel them. They're like custom IEMs, perfectly matched my ears out of luck. But know some friends with them who struggle finding comfort. Same...

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

Good to see the Z1R are still getting some love. I've been adjusting my life's priorities actively these past years, something that also influenced what/when I listen to, but somehow the Z1R remain right next to me at most times, often along with my old set of HD800(non-S). Several others...

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

The Z1R band made of a beta titanium alloy, won't be easy to shape/tighten permanently unless you do it with a lot of heat. You can deform it as with regular bands, but it will tend to return to original shape after some time. It's a drawback in that sense, or a plus, depending on desired use case.
