This is all pretty futile. If the original wav is clipped then there's nothing you can do to fix that besides lowering the volume. It's still clipped.

I still think it's sad that binaural recording still hasn't gotten out of the demonstration stage and into something artist and truly creative. The same could be said for 3-D photography and movies except there's been a lot more exposure and success there.

Kind of a late reply but Repert is correct. The clipping meters in Patchmix just indicate that the sound is hitting 100% of the dynamic range. THIS IS NORMAL. DO NOT ADJUST THE VOLUME.

Patchmix is supposed to be set at 0.0 as with wave and asio. Any more and you'll get harmful clipping. Any less and you get... less.

I'd go with a non-Grado just to see how it compares to the 225s.

I love my 225s and will probably have them around forever. That being said they sound like crap with bowls, flats, and comfies. The tape mod is the only thing that works to get satisfying sound.

The bowls lack bass compared to comfies. Also, if they haven't been used much of course they'll sound like tinny garbage.

The matches binaural recording has been posted around here before. Pretty impressive imaging. Every other binaural demo I've heard is nowhere as impressive usually because there's too much going on at the same time.

EQing is like adjusting the various settings on a monitor. Unless you have the right calibration equipment then forget about it.
